Hi wrecks if you are using helicopter ESC you need to readjust the ESC to suit your plan cos ESC for helicopters are different preset to air plan ESC

Hi im just looking at the menu online for this ESC. There's auto calculation, 8s, 10s and 12s. But what about 7s and 9s? Can we run odd number of cells with this ESC? Cheers

Hi markmcc21. Umm good question mark. On the ESC you can operate manual cells and if you don’t see the number of cells display on the ESC then No you can’t use odd cells. May I ask what is the purpose you using odd cells?

@Dannyporter888 Silver Fox I wanted to convert my F22 90mm Raptor from 6s to 9s. The FMS 1500kv motor is rated at 8s but it handles 9s on a 120A very easily. 10s and the lipos are just too heavy.

Hi mark. If you have a 8 cell pack try that and see how it perform first you never know it may fly good with 8 cell.

@Dannyporter888 Silver Fox the whole idea is upgrading to 9s mate. I currently have another F22 onon 8s on a 6 - 8s 150A hobbywing which does do odd number cell count. Shame it isn't a 10S max. It's my 6s F22 I want to upgrade to 9s on a different KV motor

Hi mark. I have just checked with the ESC and had a look,I plug it in with the programmer and selected manual cells it does 6,8,10 and 12 cells nothing on odd cells with the programmer.

Hi there black baron..from what spectrum are saying you just plug you smart battery in and everything should work because their is a pin in the middle of the battery connector that is the smart pin. You also have a wire which is red and black that is your redundant BEC connector if you wish to have extra and more and amps bec for your ESC.. third grey wire single grey wire coming off the ESC is for a tachometer reading or for your gov if you flying a helicopter.. I don’t use spectrum smart batteries myself I don’t find it any need to for me.. Because I don’t need to know the temperature of my batteries my battery doesn’t get that hot I Use high C rating batteries.. I only need to know the voltage drop so i use normal batteries with telemetry receiver.. hope that has helped and thanks for your interest!

@@dannyporter888silverfox8 ☠️BLACK BARON☠️ I received my Avian 120 yesterday. I have the newer "Hardware Product Design Version" as it seems. Two wires are coming out on the left (Battery-Telemetrie cable + PLUS pole cable). Two wires are coming out on the right (Battery-Telemetrie cable + MINUS pole cable). That means, you can plug the "Bridge" on both ends. The Battery-Telemetrie wire will have a slot on both ends. If you connect one 6S or two 6S. It doesn't matter on which end you but the bridge if you only need one 6S. This way you can check the status of the cells in your battery directly on the Transmitter. All data will be sent through all other connected Spektrum eco-system devices. To make Software updates more convenient. Spektrum changed the plug of the fan to make it easier and more accessible. Even though, I do believe that all and any software updates should be all done through the Transmitter and in sync. The Transmitter is handling all software updates for the Controller + Receiver + Gyro + Governor. But that's my copyrighted patented software/hardware concept. That's true and 150% "Forward Programming".

There’s no problem with a separate BEC, just remove power lead from ESC.

Just remove the red wire from the receiver lead if you want to run a separate bec

I think they will but not until they can get the 120amp sorted first cos otherwise people aren’t gonna have much faith in the 160amp or the 200amp!

@@ahwayzcool4630 How is the FC6250 working? I am building a Kraken right now and I certainly would not trust that unit in an expensive heli. I have 2, both defective and have been replaced with Ikon. Horizon did eventually send me a new one but I am going to test it in a small machine first.

I wired the ESC to the receiver as described in the video but my receiver isn’t receiving power. Do you know why? The receiver light won’t come on

Firstly how many cells are you using for your receiver. secondly you need to calibrate your throttle to your receiver.thirdly check your receiver wire is wired up to the correct way round. Fourthly you need to bind your receiver to your transmitter and if you are using digital servos you need to bind it at 11 melee seconds if it’s normal servos it’s 22 ms otherwise your servos will overheat!

@@dannyporter888silverfox8 I am working with a 6S battery. I got the receiver powered and the receiver is now bound to the controller but the ESC isn’t going through the programming beep sequence. Also when I plug in a servo into the receiver it initializes but doesn’t respond to inputs from the transmitter

Ok let’s start with I presume you are using a spectrum 120 amp ESC am I right to think that.. if so is the fan working at the top if there is power going through your ESC the fan will be working it doesn’t sound like is the ESC.. if there is no power out put it sounds like you have a problem with your receiver.. check your servos outport weather is 7.4 V and then check your receiver to see what it’s set at are you running a bac? If you are running a Avain 120 amp ESC you don’t need a Bec so if you have a Bec take it out or it will over heat also chech what voltage your receiver can headle up to most receiver with headle up to 9 volt.. and what type up receiver are you using.. if you get no power from your ESC then you need to check your soldiering joint.. I know someone had a bad soldering joint and had no power to ESC the ESE cannot provide power to the receiver that is quite a common issue with soldering.

Also if you are using 6s are you using the jumper connector that comes with the ESC cos if you don’t use the jumper it won’t Provide the power.

@@dannyporter888silverfox8 the fan on the ESC is spinning. I am using the Spektrum AR8010T receiver which can handle 9 V. There’s no bec hooked up to it either
