Yo NL, you win that final fight if you don't play all those crypt builders. I think you tunnel-vision on holdover without thinking of the potential drawbacks. You have to keep in mind that by playing all 3 of them, you are only allowing yourself to draw 2 new cards. Thus, instead of having 5 chances of getting the win with helical crystals, you only have 2.

More interestingly, in the very last turn he coulda calculated that he didn't have enough damage - in which case the only real play is trying to draw the Helical Crystal with enough energy to play it. He needs to play 3 cards and has 5 mana but needs 2 at the end. So on the Pyre floor: 0 Crypt Builder + 2 Crypt Builder + 1 Vengeful Shard = 2 energy left. We see he draws Helical Crystal after so woulda gotten 45*2*23 + 30 (relic gives 30 damage for consume spells) = 2100 damage [am not a 100% sure on the math though]. Great episode NL but it hurts to see you lose this one, and it really highlights how holdover is not always good. There was a line to victory on the final boss if you did NOT play the two 2 cost crypt builders at 1:01:35. If you had not played those two crypt builders, then they wouldn't come back to the top of your deck and you would have drawn into the helical crystal for the win. I know this may sound like hindsight is 20-20, but it really isn't because NL even mentioned the only way to win was to draw into helical crystal, therefore you should be trying to MAXIMIZE the number of cards you draw from the deck instead of putting these crypt builders back on top.
@carefullydisappointed4 жыл бұрын
Except that helical wasnt the only path. He could have just used the spells on the boss instead of the third floor. Then next turn used them on the boss again and killed. But it happens. With sepll weakness we always focus on doing big dick dmg and end up missing some stuff.

Apart from synergizing with the other event that gives you blight (Dante's) and the one that makes calcified embers into 0 cost 2 energy 1 draw, the first choice in the blight event (get 3 calcified embers) basically gives you 3 100 damage purge cards, plus it counters the consume seraph (the one you had this run) when it puts blights into your deck. Sorry in advance for the backseating - if you already knew this, I'm sorry for wasting your time. 41:45 draft: the spreading spores are a great counter to the final boss. Because they create copies in your discard pile, the consume is desirable. The downside is of course carrying a somewhat dead card until that point. If you can give it reduced cost and doublestack it goes completely out of control, too. No direct synergy with the spell damage is a downside.

I would have placed the unit that gives you +7 spell dmg on the top floor so when units with max spell weakness come they eat +7 times X where X is the number of spell weakness stacks. Also, purging the train stewards seemed quite important in this run, NL ended placing train stewards instead of the siren or another more useful unit. And, by the way, buffing a unit with a permanent +1/+1 instead of Rage 1 was so much better in NLs build imo. Finally, using the buff on the sweeper might be great but not really. I believe it would have been better to keep buffing the Siren to get the Rage synergy. I would also have had the buff returning each turn to my hand instead of the spell NL picked, in order to buff that unit out of space. He had many dmg spells duplicated, so to have one of them chained at his hand didn't make much of a difference. But I believe that having a 0 cost buff every turn that synergizes makes a huge impact.

@@Bwhited2399 Spell Weakness Stygian is definately strong but you need the Cylophite adding spell weakness along the champion. The champion alone adding enough spellweakness is problematic. Ideally you'd like to have 2 floors of spell weakness so you can deal your damage on floor 2 and still have floor 3 with the boss having spell weakness on him again to draw the finisher. Not to mention you'd want to multistrike your cylophite, maybe have 2 of them(one for floor 1 and one for the mention idea for floor 2). You can see he got the boss to 160 health with just that. Now imagine if he had what equates to another champion worth of spell weakness. Yeah...

Im changing my comment because it was very negative and non-constructive, and i love your content so I felt bad. Doing the calculations of the last fight with Seraph, if you had two Ice and Pyre (the one you could pick up and then duplicate it instead of another crypt builder) your damage when seraph was at max spell weakness would have been 2250, enough for the win! Still a great run, loving the series and definitely inspired me to get the game

He lost because he played the Daze card that discarded his Permafrost Helical Chrysalis and never got it back in his hand.
