Dear Mary, your timing for this video is impeccable. I just read this afternoon about the deaths of Kristina Werner's sweet kitties, & it has me thinking of my little Barney, who died just under 3 years ago when he was just nine. :( I still miss him, but somehow even more at the moment than usual. My depression was already "acting up," so today is just kind of a raw day, when my soul feels like it's being ground against a cheese grater. I know it's not a permanent state - I've been here before, and it ends sooner or later every time. But that doesn't make it any easier to go through it. Anyway, I think I really needed to hear your cheerful voice & your smile. (Yes, I can even hear you smile.) Even though I am in no way in the market for a Scout, I still watched beginning to end, just to spend a little time "with" you. Thank you so much for being here & for being you! I hope y'all are doing well. Take care, & have a wonderful day! :)

@@kristinekerr3688 They discovered recently Sophie had end-stage pancreatic cancer, then Daphne was diagnosed with liver cancer. The cancer in one of them (I forget which) had metastasized as well. Kristina posted an update on her KZbin & Instagram yesterday & said Daphne had let them know last Friday that it was time to let them go. They chose to have both of them euthanized at the same time, as both cats were so bonded they didn't want one to have to live on without the other. Plus, they were both terminal, so only having one put down now would only delay the inevitable. So sad, though. 😿

I can't tell you how much I appreciate this message; it truly lifted my spirits. THANK YOU for taking the time to fill my cup today. I have those days as well; particularly as of late. I try to take some time to myself to rest and reframe a few things but to ultimately feel the feelings, not run from them like I used to. I love this community for it's safe space it's become. I have the good old Suzi’s big kick. It works great, I don’t have space for another cutter, and I prefer to save my money for additional dies, embossing folders, ink, stamps, etc.

That's for the review, as always. Interestingly enough, the platinum 6 and the scout look eerily similar to the two machines offered by Stampin Up. The plates look the same, the printing on them looks the same and they appear to have the same issue getting your plates started on the little machine. I suspect that Spellbinders makes them for SU. The same is true for the paper trimmer and blades. (Scratch my forehead....)

I'm convinced there is one major manufacturer for a lot of these items (and markers and cardstock and ink blending brushes). That's why it's important to shop around.

I got the pretty little lilac shimmer scout. Did I need it? no. Did I want it? yes. I held off ordering - but after a major purge gave me some extra $$ I ordered. and I love it. The width size is perfect for so many dies.

I have a sizzix sidekick and just got the scout. The extra inch width on the scout (3.5” vs 2.5”) means that I can use many more dies without having to pull out my platinum 6 or my Empress large format machines. Thanks for tip in using the EF!

I got the blue floral version of the Scout from A Cherry On Top. It’s going to be great for taking to crops. Thanks for the demo. I also got a silicone mat to put it on so it doesn’t slip around, because it is very light in weight compared to the larger version.

Hello Mary, I'm finding myself in a quandary. I really liked my Platinum 6 but I was having some problems with my wrists so I got Gina K's Intra-cut and I absolutely LOVE it!! And I have a gemini Mini, which is Cute but I'm kinda missing my Platinum! 😲😏🙃 Oh the world Problems I'm having to DEAL with!!😉😂😆 maybe i should get a Scout ...🤔 OK enough with That Problem, NOW I'm going to register for your class, not really into mixed media, at least I DON'T THINK I am!! Hahah...well it sounds like you might have some good machines already especially if you have issues with your wrists. I do find it a bit easier with the Scout than the Platinum 6 just because of the weight difference. I used to have a Gemini Mini but got rid of it; solely because I had too many in my office and it wasn't getting the love it deserved. lol

Here’s how cheap and old times I am; I still use the Cuttlebug. Since my Cuttlebug is still working fine, or I’ve figured out workarounds if necessary, is it time for me to get a new machine? I have a mini from several years ago that I got on a special deal on some Home Shopping channel. So far all has been going fine. If I can’t workaround with my cuts I workaround in my plan.

Great video, thanks for the class! Curious, which of the new Glassboard Studio magnets do you prefer - the taller or the flatter? I love supporting a small, family business, and they’re such nice people. When I bought my glass board some years ago, on line the board lines looked a little too light for my bad eyes. The owner happened to answer the phone when I called and he worked with me to help me decide the percentage of black so the lines weren’t too black but still dark enough.

I have the magnets that came with the glass mat, but I find they’re not strong enough. You showed 2, one had a handle on the top and the other is flat. Which do you prefer, the flat or the one with a handle? Do you find the handle gets in the way? Do you have a preference?

Thanks so much for asking this. If you made me choose , I would select the one with the handle. It's easier to move up and down , but not by a lot. It does not get in the way of anything i'm trying to do

I can't confirm this as of yet. For the We R Makers mini machine, the answer is no because the base plate is like the adapter plate for the scout. But it's too early for me to tell if these do as well.

Every demo I have seen on this machine show the user having a terrible time keeping it still. It keeps moving and there seems to be no way of suctioning it to a surface. The larger one may not have this issue due to a greater weight. What did you think?

Definitely could see that as an issue but it isn't for me personally. Also the other mini die cutting machine.I have is supposed to suck into the table but never holds. I guess I have grown used to holding it still with one hand. Thanks So much for asking that this.

I bought a small silicone mat from Amazon to sit it on, and it helps hold it in place so it doesn’t slip around.

I did too, until I figured out that you have to sort of stager (with embossing folders) but other than that no issues at all.
