To answer this question- words that end in tch, ch, sh s,x and zz you add es. to make it agree with third person (he she,it,) as your tutor Alex explained so well. Ex: words that end with: TCH: (teach/teaches)CH: church/churches, SH: wish/wishes, X:box/boxes, ZZ:buzz, buzzes. These have SHORT VOWELS before their endings. Reads is a LONG E vowel sound and thus takes just an "s" to make it agree in the third person.

Very helpful. It isn't that easy to study (for me) by just searching for meanings and such. P.s. I learned that there's also a difference when the SUBJECT is either SINGULAR or PLURAL... Lol! I didn't know how I made it through my previous school years without really understanding the rules (and the like) of English language. I am seriously JUST basing on my gut feeling, that IT WAS right in terms of grammar; the ones that I've been saying and all. So yeah, I'm just learning this now. Which is a big LOL to me. But I totally want to understand English grammar now...

We add (s) or (es) to the third person in the present simple. We add (s) to the infinitive verb. Ex (drink _drinks) We add (es) to the verb in the third person in the present simple if the verb end in (ch_ sh _x_ o_z_s) Ex: Ch: watch*watches Sh: finish * finishes X: mix ......* mixes O: go .........* goes Z : frizz..... *frizzes S: pass...... *passes ...................................................... If the verb end in (y) we change the (y) into (i) and add (es) if their is a consenant before the (y) Ex : cry..... * cries [[their is a consenant before the y ]] If their is a vowel before the (y) we add (s) Ex : play _plays. ❤❤❤❤❤ Can I have a like? 👇

@engvidAlex6 жыл бұрын
Hi Mauro, I actually haven't done a video on "let." The closest thing I've done related to that was this video on causative verbs: www.engvid.com/english-grammar-causative-verbs/ I've been thinking about making a video with "let" expressions for a long time, though. Maybe I should finally just do it.
