I love this. Thank you for giving me a rundown of the whole adventure! One thing bothers me, though... Why are the elves siphoning energy from planets to empower their star? Why wouldn't they siphon energy from other stars? There was an old adventure trilogy by Bruce R Cordell involving mind flayers who did just that. The series started with A Darkness Gathering and ended with Masters of Eternal Night. The overall badguy plot in Light of Xaryxis sounds very similar, but makes less sense. Don't get me wrong, though, Light of Xaryxis sounds like an awesome adventure with all its encounters, locations, and NPCs!

Just discovered your channel and love it! I know it's not an official D&D book, but could you Dungeons of Drakenheim?
@DnDWalkthrough2 жыл бұрын
I'm glad you enjoy the content! Perhaps so! My main goals currently are to finish up the official D&D books but once I can catch up with their releases, I definitely want to cover other adventures as well. A while back, someone requested the Pathfinder adventures so hopefully, I can get to that. Once I get to that point, I'd love to cover Dungeons of Drakkenheim! I wouldn't hold your breath, however, since there's still quite a bit of D&D left for me to cover and man, I honestly don't see a future where I can catch up to the current releases. I'll do my best though and add it to the list!

Fantastic reading here really enjoyed it. Is there any other spell jammer stories out there that you could cover even if they’re from second edition?
@scetchmonkey0072 жыл бұрын
You know I now see the weakness in this adventure that I did not see while reading it... you are facing astral elves but never in the astral sea... in fact no encounters at all in the astral sea. Why even have the astral sea in the first place if 5e gives you no info on how to run encounters in it. The other main flaw in the adventure is that you must be captured most likely at the cost of your ship for the story to progress. Really hard to run this if you are already running a spelljammer game when the players have their own ship.
@thundererodinson1668 Жыл бұрын
When u buy the spelljammer it comes with a DM screen that has all that juicy stuff. Encounters of all types. From creature to ships.
@scetchmonkey007 Жыл бұрын
@@thundererodinson1668 That has nothing to do with my points. The point was no astral sea encounters in the adventure and the adventure forces you to loose your ship so you cannot drop it in to an existing spelljammer campaign where the party has their own ship.

40:00 but Mislead's invisibility ends when you cast a spell.. Would this actually work?
@DnDWalkthrough2 жыл бұрын
You're right! That's exactly what it says for the description of Mislead but in the adventure, that's specifically states that's what Xedalli does. Perhaps I'm reading it wrong but it may be an error on the writer's part!
@SANETheLegacy7602 жыл бұрын
No you read it right, but you two aren't thinking in terms of rp and are taking the steps too literal. They're explaining what happened in a whole. She used the illusion to drop the ring while addressing the party. Moved back to her body and then sent message. While they don't specifically state that, they also don't specifically state she sent the message while under the effect of her previous spell.
@DnDWalkthrough2 жыл бұрын
@@SANETheLegacy760 Ah, I see, thank you for the clarification. The explanation would make things fit much more in-line with the way Mislead would work! I didn't really consider the events too deeply because the way the steps were portrayed in the book still made narrative sense so I just went with it. I gotta pay a bit more attention to these things next time!

I have to say, what is Fel's point of existence? she seems to only apear in the short scene where she wants money and then disapear from thin air independly of if she is hired or not
@DnDWalkthrough2 жыл бұрын
I think she's just an easy spelljammer to hire for the party? That's my best guess for her role!
@alexandrewildfire64052 жыл бұрын
@@DnDWalkthrough i got that, but even so, she apears, the book makes a point that the hippo thinks she has an heart of gold hidden..and then she is never metioned again and the book just gives you a free spelljammer either way, that has some proper role..did the writer responsable for her just quit or something? cause the way it is she could just have been a random tiefling stealing the ship and results be the same. Other point, whats your opinion on the constant clinf hangers that go nowhere, all chapters seem to end with "and then this enemy apears..but not realy"
@DnDWalkthrough2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, she didn't have much of a role, I agree. She could've been cut but hey, at least it was interesting to see Krux's kind heart being displayed. The cliffhanger thing was certainly odd but I enjoyed it from a reading standpoint! Made reading it a bit more unique compared to the other adventures! I'm not sure how it'd play out when being run, though. It seems a bit disappointing to the players if they end their session on a cliffhanger, only to find out on the cliffhanger didn't really mean much of anything. Like, I could only imagine waiting days for the next session only to find the cliffhanger being resolved so anti-climatically. Still, perhaps it could work? Idk, I'd have to try running it one day for myself and see how the cliffhanger aspect of it goes!
@alexandrewildfire64052 жыл бұрын
@@DnDWalkthrough I think after the third cliffhanger the players will catch up to the gag. Best case scenario, it still gives the characters a last reaction, worst case, both character and player just acts bored or ignores it

My one complaint about this campaign is that if your players don't care about the destruction of their home planet, there's very little incentive to fight the Astral Elves.
@gavinboyer463411 ай бұрын
I had it be a cycle, sort of deal. One planet would keep the star stable for one year, but then after that, it would need to eat another planet. And then another. And then another. And so on.

@@DnDWalkthrough I just find it odd that the zodar would just collapse unless it was reduced to 1 hp, even if it fulfilled its purpose. It’s too strong for something like that It also feels a lot like ex machina if the party didn’t EARN being restored like that.

I missed the part about the clones when I skimmed through the adventure. Good to know. I didn’t like the ending really. I didn’t think destroying a whole lot of astral elves was a good choice at the end. But I guess DM could change the ending in some way. 🤔
@DnDWalkthrough2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I agree!! The ending was 100% the weakest part of the adventure. I personally believe the outcome of making Xedalli the emperor would've been much better since her betrayal would give the players a somewhat viable reason to blow up the entire civilization. Unfortunately, the way the module is set up makes it so that the players most likely wont encounter that betrayal
@seibervideo2 жыл бұрын
