@@jimmywhistles Looking through the rules on SRC, it's somewhat difficult to determine whether seeded runs are allowed or not. However, the game rules on SRC just link to MossRanking, which states "Adventure mode, Unseeded unless otherwise specified." Since d_tea has first place for any% on SRC (not this exact run, though I'm pretty sure this one was also submitted to SRC and was WR at the time), I think it's safe to say that this run isn't seeded. There's also evidence for the run not being seeded in the video itself, as there's a lot of hesitation to do things like look down to figure out where they're teleporting. If this was a highly-practiced seeded run, this would not be the case unless d_tea was just learning the seed. But if they were just learning the seed, they probably wouldn't bother submitting this run.

I never learned how to use the teleport in Spelunky 1 without crashing into a block, I don't think I'll learn it now, and these guys are speedrunning like mad using it!

From what I've gathered, I think the only difference is the handheld one will move you exactly 6 (5?) blocks, regardless of what is there. The backpack teleporter will not tp you into solid blocks as long as there's some space (but it will kill you if you teleport too close in the direction of the map boundaries). I also haven't had an opportunity to see if it will tp you straight into hazards like lava.

I think it’s really impressive to be good at spelunky (or any other rogue like game) speedrunning, since you never know (exept for seeded runs) how the levels will look, where the enemy‘s are and so many other things. I once tried learning how to speedrun „Dead cells“ (also a rogue like) and I just wasn’t able to adapt to the fact that it was always and Completely different level outlay.

It's random to an extent the first two blocks it will teleport you past without fail and I believe it won't teleport you past 7 blocks
