I caught Nati on a TikTok Live last night, and she not only sang your praises as a person, but spoke on how you are on the forefront of musical innovation and brilliant in your work. And I completely agree. I have had your entire TBGTTP playlist on loop in my head for a few months now lol.

I really like this song. Had it on repeat today. Afterwards I went and binged some Nickel Creek. Specifically The Lighthouse's Tale.

This isn’t my kinda music but respect to your songwriting sir, because this is totally smashing what it’s going for. Strong lyricism man. Some Beatles vibes here. Great job 🤝

I appreciate Spotify for consistently introducing me to great underappreciated artists. And this one's a twofer, with both Spence and Nati.

I would pay a frankly ungodly amount of money to see this in concert. To see any of these songs in concert.

Absolutely love this song. Been listening to it nonstop at work all day, definitely worthy of hitting the Hot 100. That being said, there's something about a possible hidden message that I just can't get over. This might be a dark perspective of the lyrics and the imagery of the video, but hear me out. It seems almost like this is a romanticism of an unhealthy attachment to the idea of being with someone. The way that they make you feel and the thought of a life with them can be the most uplifting thing in the world, hence the bright tune and catchy chorus. Then the reality and hints of self-clarity set in where you acknowledge that this person doesn't feel the same way and wants very different things at this point in life, but that knowledge gets choked out by the overwhelming feelings you're experiencing. Lines like "She may not know I exist," "...that note I know she'll never read / Baby, that's fine by me," and "I might steal one for myself" give me this impression of a person that's conscious of their own attachment issues but submits to them anyway because they believe that this person is worth everything. On the "receiving" end, the video shows that she's completely uninvolved and merely a thought in the mind of the singer. When she starts singing, she conveys that she's entirely focused on her own success and doesn't even know if she wants a romance when she finally accomplishes her goals. It's not selfish, it's her knowing what she wants out of life and not wanting distractions from that. The lines "Can't you tell, I'm making plans / To dress the world with these two hands / Don't need no man to 'splain it to me / Unless that man's on laundry duty" might be some of the most clever lyrics of the song. She's making it clear that she wants to be a designer or tailor, and that the only man she needs is one that's working for her. It can get easily misinterpreted by the lovestruck singer though, thinking that it means she wants to be with someone that will take care of everything at home so she can focus on herself. Maybe I'm reading too far into it, but I love songwriters that convey complex emotions in such pleasing ways. Either way, fantastic work. My hat's off to you, Spence.
