Our church congregations are organized geographically and members attend worship services near their home. Each member belongs to a ward or branch. Members of a ward worship together on Sundays and hold activities during the week. Several wards make up a stake, which is similar to a Catholic diocese. The leader of a stake is called the stake president. In areas where there are fewer Church members, Latter-day Saints are organized into districts and branches in place of stakes and wards. The Missionary Portal is an online resource that prospective missionaries can use to help them prepare for their service. It includes learning materials as well as checklists and guidelines. The church has over 400 missions that are arranged by general global and geographical areas. A mission president and his wife are called to supervise all missionary work and missionaries assigned to their specific area. They serve for a period of three years. The Provo MTC is a mission training center. It is similar to a university campus where missionaries live in dormitories and attend classes all day long to help prepare them to teach. A missionary will be at the MTC for around four weeks, six if they are learning a second language (which is the case for Spencer). There are several MTC campuses around the world, including one in Provo, Utah where Spencer will be.

What is Jesus’s RESTORED Gospel?? Is this a changed gospel other than the New Testament all Christians know? I spoke with some Mormon young men and they didn’t really know the New Testament and seemed uncomfortable when I asked questions and sited Jesus’s walk. Please let us know what this means.

When Jesus Christ died, the people killed his prophets at that point an apostasy occurred. This is when the gospel of Jesus Christ was taken from the earth. A really important event occurred in the spring of 1820, when Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ appeared to a young man named Jesus Christ. From that point forward the process of restoring the same church that existed when Jesus lived on earth began.

There are large enough populations in the mission area that speak Spanish and require missionaries who know the language.

I have 5 brothers who served missions. They left as boys and came home men, with a purpose and ready to take on the world. All the men I've known who went off to college took far longer to "grow up". Serving in any capacity tends to help young adults in a way that college can not teach.

I believe a mission will help Spencer develop skills that will better prepare him for his continued education as well as future life endeavors. I am amazed at how much growth Brevin experienced in the two years he served. When asked if he’d do it again, Brevin quickly exclaimed, “100%”
