Spencer Rattler has been hyped for a long time. From high school, to Oklahoma, to South Carolina. Rattler is a fun prospect with a lot of upside, but can a team mold him into more then a project piece?

Perfect project is the best description of him. We’ve seen he has talent he’s had years to mature. The question is can he do it in the NFL. I think he has a good chance
@user-zr4km5ns8t2 ай бұрын
Rattler credited his OC Dowell Loggains as being the #1 influence on helping him prepare for the NFL. Loggains is a disciple of Sean Payton from his days working with him on Bill Parcells staff in Dallas. He's also worked on 5 other NFL staffs. In other words...Rattler has been running much of Payton's playbook for the last year at SC, & has likely gotten a ton of familiarity with NFL concepts from elsewhere as well. Contrast this with the spread offenses that Bo Nix & Michael Penix Jr. have been running while surrounded by elite players & protected behind the best offensive lines in the college game. If I were betting on which of the three becomes a legit NFL starter, I'd bet on Rattler.

Terrible offensive lne. A lot of dropped balls. Decent runner. Above average arm. Forced to throw on every down. A little undersized at 6ft and 215. Still think he can be productive. Has had his feet to the fire. Must clean some stuff up. Average footwork must improve. Could be decent if he has some help . Best case scenario, compare to Russell Wilson. Will have to do a better job choosing when to run. Will not be effective in NFL rushing laterally. Can he be coached up is the question.
@onehorsetown34342 ай бұрын
His horrible offensive line is why I think he’s one of the most nfl ready of this class. He’s not going to panic over the speed difference, he’ll have better receivers, and has the arm to make the throws. His eyes are always downfield, and he never throws off his back foot.
@loudrimshotАй бұрын
Or, he's going to be very surprised at how much faster the NFL is and he's going to not be able to adjust in time. Just like Zach Wilson. He's going to panic and run out of the pocket prematurely because that's how he's been conditioned. Just like Zach Wilson

Good job covering Rattler. No need to go over his negatives. Due to his early career people already have too negative of an opinion so they have a hard time with bias. There is a lot to like and should translate to the NFL. You should also cover Devin Leary from Kentucky. Another guy that gets overlooked in this draft that can really pop with the throws he can make if you watch him. I have a feeling the NFL likes him a lot more than the media does as well. Anyway you should check him out.

His OC is a Sean Payton minion 😂 I think he's Sean's back up qb pick to Bo Nix. Broncos don't have a lot to move up, so they may have to let the board fall where it may. If Bo is picked up before the 12th pick, I can see Broncos moving back for a 2nd rounder depending on the move back position because they don't have a 2nd round pick at the moment.
@aiden28042 ай бұрын
interesting take. personally i don’t think mix is worth the 12th overall pick. if we wanna trade back to the mid 20’s, sure why not take the shot. worse case scenario if we trade back and he’s taken we can draft rattler
@user-zr4km5ns8t2 ай бұрын
Sean Payton is not going to draft Bo Nix because he's not a fit for his offense despite what all these KZbin draft gurus have been saying.. He already has his starter for 2024. He signed him as the first move he made when he came to Denver. Look for the Broncos to draft somebody like Dallas Turner or Byron Murphy in the first round. It would not surprise me if they get Rattler in the 3rd as well. Also...South Carolina's Xavier Legette, who is 6'1", 225 lbs, ran a 4.39 forty at the combine, but more impressively, Legette clocked the fastest GPS speed in either college or pro football last season, faster than Tyreek Hill. He'd look really good in Denver..

Rattler w/coaching could "could" rise up from nice backup to a fill in game winner, but w/film on him NFL defenses would be tough. Again against good teams....eh. However he is an over achiever, he's definitely willing. Teams don't have patience- they do not give qb's the benefit of the doubt...see Geno Smith, Sam Darnold (this year will be much better), Baker Mayfield. What I'm saying is if he goes to a decent team w/good coaching??? Eh, he'll be selling insurance in four years. Thanks brother, appreciated.

I disagree w the part that "he's not polished"-I think his mechanics and processing are pro-ready. When you break him down on film and don't just judge box score, but really look at his teammates and the competition, there's no good reason to explain why he slipped to the fifth round. I think it was just his name. There has been such a negative connotation w his name bc of the Netflix series and the fact that he got benched for Caleb Williams, people wrote him off as another overhyped 5-star recruit who flamed out-but the truth is, he actually thrived in adversity and still showed all those elite traits with his arm and intelligence. I wonder if Rattler had transferred to Oregon or Washington instead of Bo Nix or Penix, and got to play in a better program with an easier schedule, how differently things might have all played out. Either way, I think he's the steal of the draft-if Spencer gets a chance to start in New Orleans, his four years of starter experience and pro-style play might emerge like Brock Purdy did for SF.
