I’m a HUGE lifelong Miami Hurricanes fan and I’ll tell you right now, Cam Ward is not that guy. As good as he’s been this year, he’s not an NFL starter from my POV. His upside to me is Geno Smith and his play style reminds me A LOT of Dwayne Haskins, who as we all know, struggled in the NFL before his untimely death. Now, his #1 WR, Xavier Restrepo? Whole other story. That kid is an ideal slot receiver on any team in the NFL and I wouldn’t be surprised if he was a late 1st-early 2nd round pick. Same with the RB, Damien Martinez. Runs angry and really well between the tackles and has good power, has a very Kyren Williams-esque kind of game. I would expect him to be off the board no later than round 4.

The thing with NIL unfortunately is people are trying to show off their raw talent more, but at the cost of severely hindering their development. How many kids go to big programs, get red shirted or see little playing time and then go to another lower end school to try and make a splash. I'm mostly a Texas fan, so maybe im overly critical of Ewers, but I dont recall a notable quarterback in recent years with worse pocket awareness, footwork/mechanics, and decision-making than him. He creates sacks and turnovers for himself with his complete inability to instinctively move in the pocket, and is only really functional if Sark's play calling works to perfection. People talk about his ability to throw from every "arm angle", but I feel like it's really just that he has dumpy mechanics.

I haven't watched NFL in years. lol But if I drafted Milroe it would be because I wanted him as a RB. I don't know if that's ever happened before; but he's a RB, not a QB. For a QB - I'd take Cam Ward over Sanders. Sanders comes with an asterisk because he's always had daddy for a coach. (Seriously, who knows how he would be under a head coach who wasn't giving him whatever he wanted? He might turn out to be a nightmare to work with.)

But everything has pros and cons - and there's no telling how he would react under someone else. A first round pick on a gamble like that? I wouldn't do it. Jaxon Dart is the dark horse of this draft.. He could be great. Milroe is one of the fastest QB's that you will ever see.. He could wind up being a perfect running back or multipllayer like Tysum Hill..

It’s good to have talent and all, but a lot those talented quarterbacks lack basic fundamentals and footwork. I mean a lot of them have bad habits and they can get away with it because it’s college and skill gap is large. In the nfl there’s not talent level gap. Let’s take Sanders his problem he holds the ball on for too long and try’s to play superman, Cam ward also holds the ball on for too long and sometimes his footwork suffers, Carsen beck has good footwork, but bad decision making. He doesn’t see the field well. Quinn has footwork problems, he sees the field pretty well, but his footwork needs to be worked on. I don’t think arm talent is everything, because some of the best quarterbacks in nfl history didn’t have the strongest arm. A lot of them was able to process information fast, anticipation skills, leading your receivers to the ball, understanding the gaps in zone coverage, taking what the defense gives them, and in all accuracy and timing. A lot these young talented qbs lack that, relying solely on your talent will get you in trouble. You need to have the basic fundamentals. Tom Brady said it best your asking a lot to put rookie qbs straight into the fire. A lot of them need to sit and learn for a year or two. Let’s take Patrick Mahomes coming out of college his footwork was terrible and due to that his accuracy suffered, but it was overshadowed by his amazing arm talent. Came into the league sat for a year behind Alex smith and Andy Reid got a lot of those bad habits out of Mahomes. And now all the problems he had with his footwork , is now not a problem he has gotten better with his footwork each season. The benefits of sitting behind and learning for a season and two.

I said this going into the year and nobody believed me. Shedeur and Ward are the only two I'd have any level of confidence in, and I'm not stupid high on either (although Shedeur would be the one I'd hitch my wagon too with a gun to my head). Milroe has a handful of decent to great games, but the rest is abysmally bad. He's one of the worst QBs I've seen from the waist-up, it's fucking horrible. He's a Day 3 guy for some fantastic coach. The rest are Day 3 backup projects at best.

Never know what you got till the QB hits the NFL. Trevor Lawrence was considered the best QB prospect since John Elway, but he hasn’t put it together. Anthony Richardson is possibly the most physically gifted QB prospect ever, but he can’t stay healthy, and he’s horribly inconsistent when he is playing. On the other hand, guys like Bock Purdy, Russell Wilson, and Dak Prescott were day 2-3 afterthoughts, and each have played at elite levels.

For all of carson’s mistakes when he gets going he is hard to stop, granted atleast 4-5 of his picks have come off his receivers hands, and the lack of good pass catchers is also a factor in his regression. Its kinda hard to find a groove when your team leads the fbs in drops with 30. Ewers hasn't made any progress since his sophomore year in high school. He's been the same quarterback since he was at Southlake Carroll, all he's done is look older. shadeur is the only qb in this class that i see being a pro bowler or more at the nfl level. hes put up stats with bad college offensive lines and so hes definitely gonna come in with poise. i have no faith in anyone else to make that leap
