Thank you so much! Yea that is a good shout actually as there is a large difference in year 1 to year 3. Yh optom is pretty interesting, as other courses tho it does have the non interesting parts too! 😆

Hi khiara. Do you work as a optical assistant whilst studying optom? Do you think it's necessary to work as a OA to get a placement/prereg. Love the videos btw..there's not many uk optom channels very insightful

Yes I have done that! Not everyone has an OA job and has had one before. You can still get placement for pre reg despite not having one as your experience optically would be in university. There are opticians that will happily take you for pre reg without OA experience, as long as you have the relevant skills for it. For Masters students most likely they give you a pre reg spot rather than finding one yourself. If you do have the chance and opportunity to work as an OA go for it as you get real like working experience of your career environment!

If you can get one day of work experience that would be great however any experience you have would be good as you just need to link your skills to one as an optometrist. Any experience that has the same skills as an optom will do. Do some wider reading on recent optometry articles that resonate with you and that you can talk about!
