At 58 I left my job, sold my townhome, threw out 90% of my stuff and left Florida with all my possessions in a mini van and moved to Arizona. I found a rural town. I bought a tiny home and guess what I don't miss all that stuff!

I started decluttering 5 months ago because I was not happy in the United States anymore with all the ignorance and hate going on and planning of possibly moving to another country. Once I started decluttering it became an addiction and the feeling of being lighter is so rewarding. I realized I don’t need all that stuff and it only makes you anxious.
@VeronicaEdwards5017 күн бұрын
It's inspiring to hear how decluttering has had such a positive impact on your well-being, especially during a challenging time. The sense of lightness and reduced anxiety are fantastic benefits of embracing minimalism. Whether you decide to move or stay, it sounds like you're on a great path to finding peace and happiness. Thank you for sharing your journey with us, and best of luck with your future plans! 🌍✨

I have been decluttering for about a month, and feel much better. I made $462 selling 14 items on Ebay this week, alone! The topic of downsizing upsets a lot of older people, but my daughter made it clear that she doesn't want much from the estate except a few personal items. She even threatened to destroy all of her kindergarten era artwork that we horded up and archived! 😂
@VeronicaEdwards5025 күн бұрын
Congratulations on your decluttering success! It’s impressive to see not only the emotional relief it brings but also the financial benefits you've gained from selling items. It sounds like your daughter has a practical approach to possessions, which can really help when it comes to managing expectations about heirlooms and keepsakes. Thank you for sharing your story-it’s a wonderful reminder of how freeing it can be to let go of things we no longer need. Keep up the great work, and enjoy the lighter, more spacious life you're creating!

My job worked me 12hr shifts 9 months my body start to go into panic mode and i started having anxiety and panic attacks i had to go on fmla I started praying and asking God what will i do if i cant work the spirit led me to a scripture about taking upon his yoke his burden is easy and yoke is light and jesus will give me rest for my soul that led me to studying out living my life at a slower pase silence and solitude putting a day to the side and enjoying life

I retired in Tucumcari, NM. If you want a horse property, barns etc for a police officer's budget, it can be done here. Even have a tiny airport next door. Shopping is done by Amazon, no malls and only about 3 good restaurants. Amarillo, Texas is 107 miles east. That's where the big stores are at.

I am pushing 50 and gradually putting the brakes on spending and pushing the accelerator on getting rid of stuff. I love doing this. A few months ago I realized I'm done with trying out new skin care and shampoo, etc. I already know what I like and it's pretty minimal. My wardrobe needs attention. It's taken me a while to figure out what I even really like and then amass a sizable collection of things that really do satisfy me. To start downsizing even from those carefully cultivated items is going to be more of a challenge or something like a contest: which sweater do I like better and wear more? Thing is, being in my closet looking at stuff can be just as fun as going for a walk in the park, I'm reveling in my senses and feeling so grateful to be alive and have options and (sometimes) a carefree moment to savor it all.

"A man is rich in proportion to the number of things he can afford to let alone". - Thoreau
@VeronicaEdwards5026 күн бұрын
Thoreau really hit the nail on the head with that quote, didn't he? It’s amazing how richness in life often comes not from what we gather, but from what we can let go of. Simplifying isn’t just about having fewer possessions-it’s about having more freedom, peace, and time for the things that truly enrich our lives. Thank you for adding such a thoughtful reflection to the conversation!

@@VeronicaEdwards50 I carry a Henry David Thoreau quote with me in the photo gallery of my phone; "The price of anything is the amount of life we exchange for it".
