hey kayli! i am an esthetician that waxes A LOT. so the reason there was hair left when you got waxed, is because you were coming from shaving. when you shave, you just break the hair. therefore all your hair kinda grows at different times and grows wonky. BASE YOUR EXPERIENCE off your 2nd or 3rd wax. once you start waxing more often, the hair will start to grow at the same time, which makes it easier for the wax to pull ALL the hair, and make you actually bald. i hope that makes sense!!!

I’ve been getting waxed for 4 years and it’s soo true! I love it, the first 2-3 times I felt that there was hair left and now it’s always 100% bald and it takes ages to start growing back 🥰

Hi ! As a middle eastern girl with black thick body I'm just wondering if waxing help even tho I've never tried it for once, and is it the best solution for hair to grow less more, even tho I only use rasors or hair removal cream but it's just temporary and my hair grow much thicker ! And it became a big insecurity for me !

hi! as someone who does have a license but has extreme driving anxiety, let me tell you, living in a walkable city with public transportation is a GAME CHANGER. i have no anxiety about going out and being independent, i can get out of the house more, and i'm so much happier now. it makes all the difference

@@shmadsta Just don't come to LA, living an independent life here is difficult without a car. Our public transport sucks and everything is spread-out so walkability is also not much of a thing outside of your direct neighborhood. You'd likely end up taking a ton of rideshares which can add up to a lot of money.

i love how you also discuss about "not so good" results or parts of this glow up. I mean usually you see girls be like aesthetically showing the process of the transformation like its some kind of holy ritual, which is far from realistic, and viewers build an image like after the spas and haircuts etc you're like reborn or something and you have had a lifechanging experience, but its not always that way
@Lily-po9hr

Guuurl, you're not being dramatic about how you felt after the spa day. It just shows how levelled up you are on your home-care-routine, how well you know yourself and all the research you've done. Period.

You remind me of my sister. She got her license at 25 because she was so anxious about driving . She only takes the streets. She gets overwhelmed in public places and doesn’t like doing things alone. I see her break down and it’s difficult watching her because even though I’m supportive, only she can change her anxiety. I’m so proud of her little efforts. Every little thing you do differently will lead to something bigger. One day you’re going to look back and see at all the growth you’ve done!!

Also never feel discouraged to speak up when you are paying good money on services. It's okay to ensure you get what you want out of the experience (as long as you aren't a Karen about it, which you aren't)

I only got mine at 27! I live in the UK and it’s much more common for people to not have a licence, or to be older when they do get it. It’s very expensive to learn here, and people just catch the bus a lot of the time if the infrastructure is there! I had to learn to drive to get into the field of work I wanted. My brother is 25 and still can’t drive. I think in the US people learn to drive as a teen most of the time. Also, in the UK, I’d say 90% of people drive a manual car.

It's worth it to me tbh !! Also make sure you exfoliate every other day and moisturize the area down there everywhere every day with grape seed oil! So exfoliate every other day, but moisturize everyday with grape seed oil! For exfoliation I use a hand glove! It just keep ingrowns from forming

Ok ok so I’m in esthetic school and we just learned that the first initial wax may not always pick up every hair because the hairs aren’t all growing in the same direction, so if you go often they’ll be able to grab it all by they’ll start to grow in the same direction. I was so confused when I got a Brazilian bcc I had so much hair left over the first time and was like uhhhh wtf lol

1: buy yourself an ipl hair remover machine. It works best on people with pale skin and dark hair. It has stopped my hair growing in my pits and down there. 2: if you insist on waxing yourself (like me before I discovered ipl) then get a hot wax machine with wax beads. No paper. You pull the wax off when it cools. Much less painful and much less messy.

As an esthetician that waxes, your first 1-3 waxes are the hardest (and don't usually get every single hair) but if you do it every 4-6 weeks and don't shave in between it gets easier. If she left a lot of long hairs, she probably wasn't a great waxer and maybe try someone new. If it was hairs that were smaller than a grain of rice, that's normal. The wax can't grip onto anything too short. Also, if you don't like doing the back on all fours, ask if you can pull your knees to your chest. I feel like it's easier, and you get a cleaner wax that way. And, regarding your skincare advice, you do things correct! Washing your hands before you start, sanitizing your tools, products you use. Thank you for doing things the right way and not giving people bogus advice! ♥️

I just found you, I love how much I relate to you! None of my friends really do the same beauty things as I do. I love doing a bunch of glow up appointments/activities for myself! I don't know how to drive either, and I have depression and anxiety too. My hair is in the exact same weird red/brown stage, I've been using the chocolate brow wiz dupe that nyx sells. I frickin love skincare, and my skin flushes red when I do anything to it basically. I also react to essential oils and avoid them as much as possible, and went through a "natural" skincare phase that fucked up my skin 😅 I also love that you sanitize your skin tools! Everyone should, but not everyone does. I could go on, so spooky the similarities I was noticing

your suspicions are correct, Kayli. Waxing isn't worth it if you have a lot of super fine downy hairs that the wax doesn't catch. When I went to wax my legs that's what the lady said. She was like "Oh because you have all these really fine blonde hairs that the wax won't grab onto, so you won't have a totally smooth result" and I was like lol why didn't you freaking tell me that before you poured hot wax onto my skin and ripped the hair out by the root. Waxing is just best for thicker, coarser hair. Tbh it's really annoying to do but I like using depilatory creams for hair removal because it doesn't give me razor burn, and since a large part of my leg is numb because of nerve damage from surgery, it would be super easy for me to cut myself shaving and not even feel it 😳

waxing is definitely worth it!! maybe she didn’t clean it up completely but also the hair could be on a different hair growth pattern than others…therefore if they are too short to wax then it would just break off when you try to rip the wax off. like you said the hair will grow back thinner and more sparse after a while. the pros to waxing are also that you don’t have to worry about the shaving for at least 3 weeks and you don’t have to worry about razor burn
