I’ve loved Liberia and Sierra Leone since I was a child. Growing up, I watched documentaries about the civil wars in these countries, and I’ve always hoped for lasting peace and prosperity for them. I’ve heard from a senior military friend how warm and kind the people there are, which makes me admire them even more. My one hope is that as these nations grow, they continue to welcome foreign entrepreneurs with open arms and I hope they don't someday see them as threat. We’ve seen unfortunate incidents in some places where foreigners faced hostility, but I believe in the unity of Africa. Sending all my love from Nigeria ✌❤

Bro I don’t get that mindset either. I’m Liberian but I agree with you my people have become complacent, comfortable and they’ve given up. We aren’t the first ones to experience something as traumatic as a civil war so there’s no reason for us to encourage such mindset. It wouldn’t take us anywhere.

No it's not, is 54 countries in Africa and I can't think of another one that twice operates like Liberia, plus if you are associated with America your country will never grow, Sierra Leone and Liberia a very influenced by America
@mightym15 ай бұрын
The difference between Liberia's recovery versus Rwanda's recovery was largely leadership. Kagame focused on rebuilding Rwanda and engendering a mindset of self-sufficiency. Being a true military leader, he enforced a certain level of discipline. Liberian leadership during and after the war was comparatively weak and undisciplined. I mean, you even had a former soccer player with zero executive experience as president. Yes, Liberia has had multiple peaceful democratic transitions of power as compared to Rwanda. However, ultimately, Liberia has lagged significantly in recovery. The question becomes will this laggard pace of development and the excessive foreign involvement in the Liberian economy drag Liberia back into discontent, confusion and conflict? Only time will tell.

SubhanAllah I didn’t know this history AT ALL. I only knew they had a civil war but not why. I think some people just have a short term mindset of living for today. I don't think its specifically because of civil war, maybe in their case it is. But I see a similar mindset here in Ghana. In my community people dont even want to come together to fix roads which will benefit everyone. They rather struggle on the broken roads which will damage their cars and potentially risk their lives than group together to fix the community. Rwanda had a civil war but I dont think they have this mentality and they seem to be doing very well as a country evn though very small.

Who is it being built for I wonder. Why must outsiders build for Africa Of course if they are African Diasporea that's a seperate matter. Let them understand, that being who they want is fine, but this is the beloved land of Africa. Please treat all your brothers and sisters well so they too can thrive and no outsider extension of big brother's back door ownership state, military bases, dumping ground, or free labour for wealth exploitation on our soil. Be blessed.

There are too many different people groups there with a foreign minority elite that took over (although everyone was of African descent, that elite came with heavy Western European influence from America) The same thing happened in South Africa. That is why majority of the African descended population there is jaded. In Rwanda, there is only the Hutu and Tutsi who share a common ancestry regardless and both were economic classifications, not ethnicities if i am not mistaken. That is why they were able to “develop”. Botswana too. Majority of people are Tswana. China, majority of the nation is Han Chinese. When 80% of the people are the majority of the nation, its easier to get things done because they are on the same page

So the American Descendants of Slavery is the blame or the reason that Liberia is a failed state.The have had more time than Rwanda has had and at least Kigali is considered to be one of the cleanest cities in Africa.Monrovia on the other hand looks dirty and not a traffic light in the downtown area.Kigali have trucks picking up trash regularly.Rwanda had a big genocide larger than any war that Liberia has ever had.
@ledwinmampho18615 ай бұрын
Apart from Kigali being clean.Rwandwa is just like a any poor African country, no industries, no mineral resourses hence their President is involved in mineral rich DRC. Their exports is tea.
@josephshonga1785 ай бұрын
@@ledwinmampho1861 That's sad what Kagame is doing plundering eastern DRC. However, DRC is a big country with abundant mineral resources in other parts of the country like Katanga not affect by the war. What's the DRC leadership doing to utilize those resources to develop and improve the lives of the Congolese people?
@eddiethorne64615 ай бұрын
@@ledwinmampho1861 ,I agree but the point that i am making is that the blame game is a weak excuse.Kagame`s control of Rwanda is certainly questionable.His tribe is only about 15 percent of the population.Some military is helping his military to keep stay in power and he is the riches man in Rwanda.But according to an American who lived their for a while Kagame has made it so Hutu and Tutsi can not publicly blame each other and live in Rwanda.The same can be said about Nigeria.Igbos who who blame other tribe members for the Biafra war are mostly those who now live in the USA,the UK of Canada.
