I don't know if you read Crying in H Mart but your sentence about how you sometimes feel that your only connexion to your background is food made me think of it, this book is such a good book, so well written and raw and open, i definitely recommend it if you haven't read it!

Hey, Moya the old book you read in Taman Ismail Marzuki was old spelling of bahasa Indonesia. It called Ejaan van Ophuijsen, this spelling is used to write Indonesian words according to the model understood by the Dutch, which uses Latin letters and sounds similar to Dutch speech. Even for Indonesian is little bit difficult 😅 currently we use Ejaan yang disempurnakan. More modern and easier. Hope you enjoy your time in Indonesia, Moya
