good piece. Thanks for sharing your survey results on farmer's approval. We're sick of being "owned" by the government for pennies on a dollar...basically they throw us a few bread crumbs every now and then...meanwhile we have to get permission from them when we wanna cut a tree down on our land...and if WOTUS is approved, we'll have to get permission to piss on our own land.

These payments need to be based on the states and countries within those states that had bellow county and your farm aph yield if u had 80 to 100 BPA with corn u need it to pay your bills if u have 200 + not so much even with low prices!

The Ag Industries love consolidation for some reason, but farmers are the losers! Even if you're the last dog standing in your farm community; your kids don't have any classmates, the local diner & gas station close, the church gets shuttered, there's no volunteer fire dept, and you have to drive twice as far to deliver grain & buy parts (possibly in opposite directions)....

Anyone else notice Congress can gallop when it's time to spend money to 'show they're concerned about their voters' but when it's past time to pass/update/explain legislation involving regulations to qualify for programs that SHOULD only be for US farmers they're nowhere to be found? The idea that South American sugar is used for SAF is insane. We just had an election based on smaller government to slash spending, and right after it, Biden and Congress are throwing money out the door, that we have to freakin' borrow. That too, is insane.

what about those who have switched from corn and beans to another crop?
@debi5292
@debi5292 23 сағат бұрын
If all those who plant corn on corn do the same and other switch to more corn, maybe a counter to that to keep your rotation and let others try and time the market. Soybean situation can change before next marketing season. Soy has little if any substitute whereas Corn can be subbed by Wheat. If soybean oil can be used for SAF fuel, beans might be not such a bad idea.

Not an expert in this area but i don't think the infrastructure designed to handle ethanol is affected by the percent of ethanol in a gallon of gas. In other words an oring made for ethanol service is (probably) designed for 100% ethanol so it won't degrade with percent increases. Let the debate begin.....

Maybe the number is that big, maybe not. Either way, the crop about to be harvested in Brazil is undersold and selling pressure from Brazilian farmers is an under mentioned pricing factor. The world is over producing. This payment will help in the short term. With this payment, will anyone reduce production or hold grain until markets meet our price? How will this help the American Farmer compete? Large farms always benefit more even if there is a cap. Small farm gets enough money for a few tractor tires or a repair. Large farm gets enough money to cover the cost of living, health care, new trucks, and pay for some college..

Also, farming is a business now. Taking risk and consolidation. Has been happening for 30 years. If you allow emotions and are sitting around watching a neighbor expand, you are not running your business correctly. Every business that is making money is constantly expanding, taking out or buying out other businesses. The next generation of farming is the same way now. Do i like it? No, but it's the world we live in now.

@HillCountry11 there's only so many acres to go around. Ur not eating the neighbors. It's not the neighbors' ground everyone is after. It's the ground 10 miles down the road. Would you sit around watching the ground go for rent, or would you place a bid? And has land owner would take the highest bid or lowest?
@HillCountry11
@HillCountry11 20 сағат бұрын
@@JamesMeister-o5e When I placed a bid, I always checked to make sure the current farmer was not going to be interested. Isn't a fellow farmer, close enough to rationally farm that land, your neighbor? Never placed a bid that I couldn't farm it for net profit not cash flow needs. And without Gov. payments. The cure for high land prices is for farmers to bid cash rents for net profit. These investors would soon sell for reasonable prices back to those who should own the land. The farmers and landowners who care for the land. This is not being naive. Just taking a stance for what corporate has done to the best way of life and the only way for any, any individual farmers to survive.

@@JamesMeister-o5e I always asked the farmer whose land was opened for bid if they were still interested. If so I would not bid. Any farmer close enough to reasonably farm their land was my neighbor. And when I did, I bid to farm for net profit not cash flow. The way to bring down land prices is for farmers to bid rents for net profit. If so, the investors would bail out selling the land back to this who should own it. Farmers and landowners who value and take care of it.
