Can't decide if I want to look like Jen, or look at Jen for the rest of my life. 😍 Also, speaking at least 2 languages fluently in (continental) Europe is just regular, and most of my friends are binational so they grew up with multiple languages anyway. :) when you live in such close proximity between cultures and languages, they inevitably mix, and it's amazing!

The part where you said "now hiring: must be fluent in dutch, french and english" got me laughing so hard because that's every belgian (including me 😂) bonus if you add spanish or german to the list. We speak too many languages, it gets confusing! Hope you had a very wonderful time in Brussels (looks like you did 😉)

Not everyone speaks these languages, mostly it's only buisness people or people who work in Brussels in the social work industry. Don't think every single Belgian is multylingual

@@runevandeweyer2651 I agree, in my case it's because I studied tourism and leisure management that I had to learn all those languages (and also I have a big interest in learning languages hence why I follow Damon and Jo 😉) I find that when you start looking for a job in Belgium, especially near Brussels or any city with lots of tourists, that it's mostly required that you know all those languages.

When you are going to school in Belgium, you automatically get Dutch (my mother tongue), French, English and optional but in most cases you get German too. If your studying something with languages in high school you also get Spanish. But know that this is necessary 'cause we have 3 official languages here *remark: when you are going to school in Flanders

Not true, in secondary school they get to choose between English or Dutch... And they can also choose another additional language as an optional class. I am ashamed of this system like you gonna ask a 12 y old to take English or Dutch, I mean come on.. I think it should be compulsory to have Dutch (hello from Wallonia 👋)

​@@celine1654 Maybe that's the case in your school but my Wallonian friends agree that Dutch AND English are compulsory, German is optional, and then most schools offer more languages like Spanish, Italian, Latin... And Rachel, it's not necessarily Spanish, it depends on what the school offers. :)

In Brussel you have to speak French and Dutch it's not a choice. After 3rd year of your secondary school they add English and after they can also chooses an optional language like Spanish. But if you wanna get a job it's important to speak these two languages and English if it's possible

I love this video. I love the philosophy that this channel is cultivating, it's beyond just Shut Up and Go, it's growing.
