Having worked at a local track as a teenager, and my father heavily involved in it as well, I'd say most local track owners, promoers, and workers don't do it for the money. They usually do it for the love of the sport, many volunteer their time just to keep it going. Local sponsors do what they can with what they have to give, again just to be involved. Motorsports are a true American tradition. Not exclusively American, but certainly All American spirit. Well done. I'll be following along from North Jersey. Have fun and be safe.

Definitely consider Go Kart racing if there are enough people interested. Would be an amazing track for that. Ignore the negative people. They are miserable so they spread their misery. This is why there lives are meaningless and sad. The loss of so many tracks to development has been brutal, and to see some brought back and alive with activity is so powerful. Thank you!

The Go Karting deal is complicated. Everyone local races them on clay, not asphalt. The clay Karting track I have is underwater and needs a 100% rebuild. We may pump the water out and see what the track is like, then go from there. Unfortunately it all ends up costing money, and at the end of the day pennies matter here lol. More to come on that. We sort of have a plan to work on it.

I can see this would have been a fun track to race karts on, and is really too small for cars, but with those concrete barriers right next to the track now, Kart racing is pretty much off the table. Those things would kill someone on a Kart if they hit them.
@johnsnow1355 Жыл бұрын
@@SkunkieDesignsElectronicsoutside walls kill any kind of racing. I never understood why everyone with a small track needs to put solid Wall around it that destroys equipment and creates a massive Hazzard and possibly of death or serious injury by creating a Hazzard of a stopped vehicle against the wall being hit by other vehicles. This was such a stupid modification. Someone's kid can get killed or serious injury hitting a solid concrete wall or being hit after hitting the wall. I would never ever allow my child to race of a track with a solid concrete wall in a go cart.

Been watching this from the start o love the effort and how well its going.. I saw some other comments and i would echo them. If it were me i would put the concrete barriers along the fence line and not so close to the track. You could then put a layer of tyres infront of the barriers. If you can get some old used conveyor belt rubber you can attach that to the tyres to stop cars and karts splitting the tyre pile.. this would provide energy absorbtion for cars and Karts to stop injury and broken parts but also stop then getting to spectators.. Everyone is happy then.

I think your small incremental approach is the perfect one for what you are doing, as rather than waiting for months or years while you try and raise a much larger amount of money why the track continues to degrade, people can get out and use it now. Plus while you are doing that you are building up a track record of arranging events and day to day maintenance which also makes it more likely that you can continue to get investments from other people and companies to slowly expand what you can do at your track. Not every track needs to be up to hosting large races as everyone needs to start somewhere and your tack look like a good place for lots of people to get started.

There seems to be ways of joining tires to make a bundle /group that are way more effective at stopping vehicles . The bundles can resist a heavy impact and do not fly apart into single tires . They are heavy and either need towing or lifting to shift . Many at very high dollar tracks have vinyl fascia . I suspect either chain or cable is used to manufacture them .

I've been auto crossing (18 yrs) and course designing (15 yrs+ at airports to parking lots to oval tracks- from very large to very small). The scariest courses for competitors were at the oval tracks with concrete barriers so close. After 2 years, our club decided the risk to cars was too great to continue at the oval track. Place one wheel wrong, or be too exuberant and its a bad day. I think that while your concrete barrier is good from a spectator standpoint, they will be a concerning for competitors. Perhaps run the barriers much further off the track edge, following the fence line instead. Remove the concrete barriers on the actual track edge near the mid section and move those behind the fences. Remove all the grass (slippery when wet) between the outer course edge and the concrete and replace with clear gravel ($$$). You don't need so many concrete barriers in the central area of the track- only 2- 3 should be necessary. As a track worker, we stand a few feet off the course edges and pay strict attention (no cell phone use or photography while on duty as a worker). Since you only have one car on course at a time, its easy to keep track. SCCA autocross rules are designed to set the course elements at least 50-75 feet away from solid barriers and at no time should elements be facing towards solid barriers - eg, don't have exit points to elements facing the barriers (others can chime in to correct me). Otherwise, I really appreciate what you've done so keep on!
@Greenlightfilming Жыл бұрын
I see what you mean about the proximity of the barriers to the course itself. We are spatially limited, and moving them closer to the fenceline isn't an option. We have a required setback for spectators, which is why things landed where they did. During your time working/running at circle tracks with continuous walls. How many people ended up contacting the wall or barriers etc?

Hey there...some ideas for you. Get some track name stencils or sponsor stencils and spray on concrete blocks.......could charge businesses per advertising block. You could also use track for cycling......racers/road bikes?? Buy a couple of sheds and place near main spectator area with some picnic benches. Use and convert sheds to sell cold drinks and snacks......? Have you thought of adding a rock garden (old rocks,rubble, concrete, logs etc) over back of the roads for rc crawler rock crawler course...really big thing and could host events....u could use lake for rc boats....plus use main straight for runway for rc planes??? Contact a local rc store for ideas, sponsorship and help? Create by placing multiple boulders n rocks and set up mini gates to create course..? Stock lake with fish and charge for fishing?? Bass blue gill etc. All the spare land round outside you could create a mountain bike course...small bumps and berms....odd bigger jump. Make into a loop...do a smaller one called a pump track...another way to get people paying to use land...just use digger to create course?or use as bmx track?offroad motorbike track etc. Few ideas for you.... Good luck on your raceway. Peace.
