I was surprised when I heard Hasbro hadn't thought ahead to the possibility of of the proton pack when they made the wand. Even mattel had considered the possibility when they'd had the license, making their props compatible with each other. At least the Engineers at hasbro did come up with a work around, but still sad. I guess that would also mean if they do additional props they also wont be able to interact with the wand unless they've built something into the pack.

When you first power up the pack, it has to be using the main pack switch. You can't power up the pack using the wand 'from scratch' - you can only use the wand to power the up/down the pack once the pack has been initiated. Then there's a 'standby' mode built into the electronics that gives you a 10-minute window to be able to use the wand to power the pack up/down (I think the timer resets if you use the wand during this period). As for the tape hack, it works an absolute treat doesn't it. My wand was cutting out (and powering the pack down) every time I tried to flick the Activate switch... now it's as good as gold. So thank you @tomsprindis3164!

I was having the same issue as you. Power was cutting off whenever I hit the Activate switch. But after applying some electrical tape, the problem went away. Thank you Portsmouth Ghostbusters Andy for making a video about the connection issue. I wouldn't have known about a fix if not for your video.
@nerdloftgaming
@nerdloftgaming 2 жыл бұрын
It's actually only a five minute window to power back on the pack via the wand. This was disclosed by Hasbro in November/December. The only thing that is truly lame with the wand and pack communicating with each other is the wand's 30 second idle time shut down. If you've got the pack and wand turned on, but don't interact with the wand for 30 seconds, the wand will shut off... along with the pack. While you can turn on the pack and let it cycle through the lights, that is only for a meagerly 200 seconds before it shuts off. Work is already being down by the community to get that addressed, so I suspect the fans will be able to get a plug and play solution sometime in the near future.

Great tip! Ours has a communication issue and I was sure it was down to the connection in that hose. Nice work! I’ll try it out. :) and no - you can’t initially turn it on from the wand. The pack needs to be on first - there is a timeout of 5-10 mins where the pack does power down fully and you can’t spin it up from the wand without a flick of the main switch. Which is a shame! I also would like it to not power down so quickly. I think it turns off way too fast! I’d love to keep it powered up indefinately and turn off only when I want it to! Oh well.

@@Ghostbuster-Andy to be fair - I’m not surprised the contact in the hose has problems. The hose is far too rigid - there’s a lot of tension on that connection. I may replace the hose itself with a proper cable hose if I can and take that stiffness out of it.
@ghaleon128
@ghaleon128 2 жыл бұрын
@@TheRetroShed agreed. I hate how stiff the hose is. I'm hoping someone figures out a decent hose swap mod that I can follow, maybe with a hose that's more flexible rubber than hard plastic.
@TheRetroShed
@TheRetroShed 2 жыл бұрын
@@ghaleon128 I’ve just removed the “gas mask tube” from the end of the hose - where it attaches to the pack. There’s a lot more flex in it now. It’s secured at the end with glue so if you’re careful you can but if off but take care not to damage the hose itself. Once it’s gone you can decorate the hose with some fabric tape - it looks cool and offers more flex to the hose than before.

Hello. Like others here, I am having issues with my Hasbro pack. Starting from the beginning, like others, I have lost connectivity between the pack and the neutrona wand. I have tried your tape suggestion around the connection point, and it did work. I did this work about 3 days ago, and it stayed perfect right up until yesterday morning. Yesterday morning, I did a quick test, and it still worked. I moved the pack and brought it to a show that I was doing, and went to power it on, and nothing. Today, I retried the tape trick again, but to no avail, it still is not working. Before I go and take my pack apart and see if there is a way to splice it, I thought I would do a check in. Do you have any other suggestions? Does anybody else who follow have suggestions???

So is the tape going around the thread the hose uses to connect to the pack? I had issues where I’d struggle to get the switch flipped, then get all the straps back in position, go back in front of the mirror so I could watch myself, turn the wand on and…the moment I pressed the fire button, it all switched off like the I was pressing a kill switch!!🤯 And it seemed to always be when I tried firing it that it would kill the power like I was hitting an OFF switch. Imagine pressing the accelerator on a car to turn the car off like you turned the ignition key back.

My wand activates the pack very intermittently. Sometimes it does, usually it doesn't. If I rapidly flip the switch on/off it eventually works. Everybody's pack is like that you have to initially start the pack up to make the connection to the wand and once that is connected then you can use the wand to turn on and turn off the pack for I want to say it's like 10 or 15 minutes until you have to reset the pack again and do the whole sequence over. There is one person that I've seen online who has done a mod that has made it so once you turn it on the pack just stays on and you can continue to use the wands as many times as you want to turn it on and off. But I haven't seen how he did it I've just seen that his tax stays on for longer than the typical standby time that the pack does

It works because the fitting inside the hose is just a little too big for the fitting on the pack. So the hose has some play in it and it moves around on the collar and loses connection. What the tape does is take up the space around the fitting and focing it to fit snug on the hose end and not allow it to wiggle on the pack part.
