Quel plaisir de l'entendre et de la voir dans un rôle à la scène (mais ne parlons pas de la mise en scène totalement débile comme toujours ou souvent!). Quelle aisance dans la coloratura, d'une telle facilité. Et l'on remarque bien moins ses nombreux tics dérangeants au concert et au récital.

There is an almost simultaneous production with Diana Damrau - they must have been competing for them. Cecila lost: Damrau got the better dress and all the running about - I'm not saying one is better than the other; but they are different - well - different.

Fake blind hermit (le Comte Ory) lures women into his cave (caravan in this wonderful production) and Barttoloi has it off with the trouser role. Ory himself drags up as a nun later on. What's not to like? it's farce. It's Rossini on top form. It was even better live in the Zurich opera theatre.

dans l'interprétation de cette oeuvre même si j'apprécie Cécilia , elle fait du Bartoli, pas du Rossini, je préfère de beaucoup la virtuosité de Sumi jo qui correspond nettement mieux à l'écriture de Rossini !!!

Exactly. Why a mezzo insists on singing soprano roles (Semele, Adèle, etc.) when there are plenty of mezzo roles out there for them to sing is a mystery. In this case, both Adèle and Isolier bring mezzos ruins the dramatic antithetical gender roles.
