Oh makeup is very harmful. Personally, I have a condition where artificial scents and certain chemicals bother me (rashes and migraines mostly), so I have to get stuff "fragrance free" and avoid certain things and even wear allergy masks in stores that sell things like laundry detergent, scented candles, shampoo, and even around people who have used scented deodorant or dryer sheets. Just because we switched to stuff that isn't dangerous in the short term, doesn't mean there aren't long term effects, they're just much harder to find. Then again, pollution is also an issue that took a long time to figure out.

@@michaeltodd2923 the doctor who told me I had cancer was… not optimal. He had too many people in the room (me, him, 2 nurses, and a student doctor) and he kept beating around the Bush, didn’t give me clear, concise info, etc. He actually said “You have a little bit of cancer.” No, actually it a lot of it, but thanks for the ridiculous, for more surreal than necessary experience. Really an excellent example of one way to never deliver life-altering news. I don’t know if (or why) he expected me to have a meltdown or throw a tantrum, or if he is just used to seeing 75 year olds who like to be dramatic and need a Victorian fainting couch. Not giving me full, accurate information was the most infuriating part, though. It was 6 years ago, I will have it for life, and that is ok.

My wife and I started trying and - boom - pregnant within a month. We are both 31 years old. We live normal lifestyles in the U.S. and don’t abstain from “normal” food or activities. That said, we were both raised on home-cooked food and whole produce. In my case, my dad was an organic / grass-fed nut in the 90s way before organic sections in supermarkets were a thing. My wife’s family had a huge garden and bought food directly from farmers. We will continue that tradition with our own children.

I mean this is hardly surprising considering how processed our food and water is these days, on top of all the chemicals and radiation we encounter both directly and indirectly affecting our bodies. Another major factor is the constant work and stress of our daily lives that causes fertility rates to drops for not only men but also women. As the newer generation we're no longer as keen on having children by a certain age, hence why now majority of couples that decide to have a child are mostly above 30 and this is where the rates for conceiving drop considerably. Give it another 10-15 years and the birth rates and more so the fertility rates will start to decline even more rapidly.

@@host8623 For whomever is still interested, I had the exact same issue (azoospermia) as R.M Haych (congrats on the baby btw!). I talked to one of the top fertility doctors in the US, Dr. Robert Kiltz, and he said to go on a very strict keto diet. I'm serious, keto! My wife and I now have a daughter who's 2, so that would be my advice, but you need to do keto for 3 months minimum because that's how long it takes for sperm to develop start to finish. The sperm you ejaculated today started 90 days ago. Try it and see, also clomid and HCG might be of help as well.

These studies are actually very hard to accurately understand. The fact is that we only started measuring fertility from 1970 and until now. The reality is that we humans are different from each other. The reproductional strategy from humans is very different than other apes. The chimpanzees/bonobos needs large testes because they mate a lot with everyone hence best sperm wins the race of reproduction. While guerillas are with small testes because basically only the alpha gets to have his fun. Humans are somewhere in between but we have a lot incommon with bonobos. Sexual activity has a lot to do with social interaction among our specie. The fact people have become obese, drink and smoke and accustomed to heat exposure might explain 99% of the drop.

Opiods are in a fertility enhancer in women. In my home city, there is one Dr who runs a methadone clinic at a loss to help drug addicts and pays for it by operating a seperate clinic for fertility where he charges enormous amounts of money and apparently is quite successful. He found the effect when he was confused why so many of his drug addict patients kept getting pregnant, despite them using relatively effective birth control methods. It's not just behaviour.

I know this is two years old but I would love a team like this. The doctors to the lab. For two years I've dealt with crappy doctors and doing the same thing over and over again. A little humor goes a long way in a journey that is so difficult. People won't understand until they are going through fertility treatment. The daily injections, the vitamins, the months and months of trying different doses of different medicines, to get no where farther. The hope day in and day out that all the lifestyle changes, the exercising, the healthy food, the cutting out of things you have previously enjoyed, the mental anguish. Hopefully scientist can one day find out what's causing people to go through this suffering.

It's how they got the "female" handmaid's tale. If you pay close attention, it wasn't even the women who were infertile in handmaid's tale necessarily, they didn't bother to test the men because the society was so patriarchal they wouldn't entertain the notion that the women weren't the problem. A lot of the commander's wives weren't barren, but their husbands couldn't get the job done. The fertility doctors knew what was up. In both the movie and the show it is revealed, somewhat subtly.

It is. Because the water is full of hormone acting like chemicals that industries throw into the water and can't be filtered. Animals like frogs can change sex if everyone is of the same sex in the area. Water full of estrogens can activate this mechanism and so the male frogs become female.

This has been a problem for a while about time it's reaching the mainstream. Now is the time for people to be switching to whole organic foods and healthy lifestyle habits and fulfilling the best expression of human existence.
@MsBhappy

We will have a severe food shortage and crisis if we all eat organic. It uses too much precious resources of land and water to produce such small yields. The US simply needs to follow the EU regulations. The FDA does not have the consumer's best interests at heart.

@@MsBhappy Studies regarding whether organic farming uses more resources is inconclusive, and that is before you consider that an individual on an organic diet in theory would consume less food as it is more nutrient dense. However regardless the use of pesticides herbicides fungicides and rodenticides are poisoning what precious water we have left, not to mention entering human bodies. A sustainable approach has to be identified.

Organic food is too expensive for the average person in western society. That is the first reason why organic food is harder to put on the table than processed things. It all boils down to our good friend capitalism

I can't help but think that with more rigorous investigation, there could have been a more poignant argument here beyond the loose explanations and partial-maybe blames on large industries, company names FULLY excluded. Kind of a classic "you should be really concerned be we couldn't be bothered to" kind of journalism. This is like the distilled and lazy version of more effective arguments that people have been making for years but with high production value. I promise you can do better lol.

You make a good point. The part at the end where he states that we should be "asking for more transparency from manufacturer's" on what goes into the products we buy... Like, yeah, they don't fucking care. They aren't going to change anything they're doing until legally forced to do so.

A lot of studies have shown that the major reason why Sperm count is dropping in the western world is a matter of many reasons. A lot of the reasons why we see a drop is also measured by who we test. Anyway currently all those sperm banks are saying it comes down to alcohol, smoking and heat exposure to your balls.

so many people have made fun of me for making my own beauty products and being concerned about chemicals, and everytime Ive dated someone, Ive gone out of my way to make them their own products to use too, I knew that there were a bunch of chemicals in most commercial products that were bad for overall health, didnt know it was this bad.
