Oh nice did you say 80' head ? I'm use a full DT line that head be 100' because the full line is 120' and I'm born whit full line fly fishing and its very effective as you dont need to take home line for a new cast I strip in so the fat part is in my top ring that's important to get a good transfer of energy! I use many rods but one is Hardy favourite and a different one is UK made Black shadow spey casting special who is 15.6' and it's made only for spey casting! The difference is bottom section of rod who flex different to look like a cane rod but it's a carbon fiber blank whit spigot construction and 4 sections. And if you form the D loop correct you cast 150-200' no problem whit the difference it's the D loop who makes it ! And long leader a key factor as well! A rule at least as long as the rod but often a bit longer 15-20' is what I'm use. Fun see long line been casted 😊 Bjorn from Sweden 🇸🇪
