Great instruction. I have been fly fishing for 30 years. This is my first year with a spey rod. Was almost ready to put it away but now I'll take it up to the Sault Rapids and give it a second chance. I'll be re-watching your instruction video a few times. Thanks again. 🍻

Well done April!! I've been fly fishing in Michigan for years but only using single hand rods. I watch instruction on KZbin all the time. I'll be starting with a switch rod if thats your advice, but done looking for a teacher. That was by far the best detail I've seen. Thank you... Jerry

As always such clear guidance. I still tweek my double handed casting technique based on the instruction you gave me many years ago. Your instruction has been invaluable in fixing my own faults. Keep up the great work, and hope to see you and Charlie back in NZ sometime soon!

April's fishing a Burkie. I bet you didn't have to pay for that. I have said to myself, "She looks like the kind of woman that fishes a Burkheimer". For the layman... that is a compliment. Love your content April! Very informative.

What are your credentials April? Too many analogies. "kat handed"? May I suggest learning Hugh Falkus's reverse casts.

April, I picked up a copy of fly fusion and see you aren’t with them anymore. Silly of them to let you get away.

I’ve fought many many salmon using double Spey, snap T, circle C and Perry poke casts 😉

I frequently use the snap t. I’ve had fish hit my fly while I’m sweeping up into the start position. I tried to cast more than one fish because of it. I don’t believe it spooks them anywhere near as much as you think it does.

Wow you make double spey casting so complicated and throw in some interesting names for the process. Bloody L, anchor, creep. I speak as a salmon angler of 35 years however I know times change. You also want a V not a D. A D is a roll cast, a V is a proper spey cast and will shoot more line. Reduce your angle and maybe use only two fingers and thumb on your top hand to ensure you keep the rod tip low on the upstroke. Hup, one...two...and out.

@Mark Turnbull Morning. As a Scot from Inverness, an old River Ness ghillie, and lifelong angler I can tell you double spey can be learned in minutes. Thats all. If you're throwing D's than lower yer rod on the upstroke. I throw V's myself. It's not a male/female thing BTW. I've ghillied for some awesome lady casters. The lassie just makes a double spey over complicated that is all. I jave taught complete novices and netted their first salmon 15 mins later. That being said everyone uses the snake roll nowadays.

@@chrisaldred6030 Morn man. Keep yer rod tip low. Try picking yer line up with three fingers on yer top hand (index finger, middle finger, and thumb only) if you have issues with that.👍

Hi Larry. This is part seven of an advanced Spey course that we're offering on our website. For many of us, this is simple... but as you well know, casting mechanics are more complex than just the standard "ten to two" and "don't break your wrist"... especially when troubleshooting (as I'm doing here). I hope Denver is treating you well.
