The reason why I liked this video so much was because you got to see an expert explain it to a newb. Then to watch the newb helped me understand what not to do, and then how to correct the mistakes. Nice work.

Entertaining and informative. I'm trying to teach my nephews how to spey cast and this actually showed me a few things that I haven't shown them and should have.

That’s awesome, there’s a whole other segment with Dustin sharing knowledge in the full episode tomorrow at 1pm on CHEKTV!

Works great although it kzbin.infoUgkxLoZpKHn4w7dtzXk1eygBlOhbLxuVe3uD took a while to figure out how to reverse it. Nearly disassembled the entire thing. Looks better than my Redington Rise 5/6 reel too.

Looks like the fish got off the hook and you called it a release. Please explain what made that release and not a lost fish.
@ReelWestCoast2 жыл бұрын
It was a bit of both! We were just going to release it anyway so having it come off was perfect. Many people who practice Catch and release consider a “leader touch” a landed fish.

Some call it “a remote release.”

roll cast should release surface tension of the line by pulling with left hand, then cast with one hand
@MichaelPhillips-jw4bj Жыл бұрын
Lmfao dude you’re not hauling any true Spey rod…those are 14 footers they have minimum 12 oz reels . Heck an bogdan 14 oz unloaded reels. So 200 yards minimum for chinook plus a 40 grams skagit + another ton in ten t11 sink tip….. a haul is for more line speed anyways you’d get more tension/load with proper underhand or single Spey lmao 😂

If you watch his body mechanics he’s using his bottom hand as the fulcrum despite saying the opposite.

Not impressed with this instructor. Some of the components in his cast are simply wrong. His upper arm action on the forward stroke is way off.
