All the information you're using is for a 1UZ VVti. Not surprising it's not fitting well for the earlier 1UZ FE engine. Faulty research done there mate. I know the VVTi conversion works because I was able to do it in my shed with no previous experience in conversions and most of the information you've referred to was mine. Still enjoying watching you muddle through it though. lol

Proposal for a budget build challenge. Soft roaders on steroids. Competing soft roaders, ie, X-trail, Outlander, Forester, Grand Vitara/XL7. Mod them, and either do a Cape trip, or just take them to some tough tracks and send the heck out of them.

did you soak the gaskets because you didnt use sealant on the intake mani bolts? they go into a water jacket in most bbc heads. cheers
