@@ttv8ra23 ngl they're pretty end game already which a lot don't really understand. Dana 60 front diffs have been out since the 70s in chevs, dodge, ford, international, kaiser jeep, etc. Rear is like a Dana 80/GM 14 bolt type diff which are the strongest, before third member dana s110 truck diffs. My 1978 C20 has a 10.5 14 bolt and people buy these 50 year old diffs to chop down and put into patrols lol. 6.7 powerstroke is good but all 3 major brands need the cab lifted off the chassis to replace stuff like turbos, fuck that haha. End game built not bought is a AAM 11.5 rear, Dana 60 front, Ford ZF6 6 speed manual, 12 valve cummins crate engine from DCEC, and NP205 or another NP T-case for lower reduction. Can put it all in a patrol or whatever chassis you like frankly. The ZF6 is the only "rocking horse shit" thing though, rest is plentiful and cheap for what you get.

You can only drive this truck on a country road because there is no way this can be a daily around the major suburbs. Crazy to think the F series is the best-selling vehicle in the US. As far as worrying about reliability I'd worry about the RAM. You're in good hands with the F series.

I daily drove a 2011 Ram 2500 crew cab short box (same configuration as this truck) for 12 years before I finally decided to make the move to a more capable truck. In that time it was driven in many different cities including Washington DC, Philadelphia, Kansas City, Cleveland, Boston, Providence and the NYC borough of Manhattan. The only issue that I ever had was finding parking in Manhattan. The truck that I am replacing the Ram with is significantly larger (F450) and would be more challenging in some cities due to it being 8 feet wide.

Had one of the 2004 F250 7.3 power stroke intercooled V8 Turbo diesel pulling ~ 4 tonnes of boat from 2006-2020 - 14 years. Yes they pull. Used to get 5kms per litre towing at 100kph. The ONLY Aussie conditions they WONT handle are water crossings around top of wheel height. The injectors are Hydraulic Electric Unit Injectors. There’s a camshaft position sensor down by the flywheel that sh!ts itself pretty regularly, used to keep a couple spares in the door pocket along with a 10mm deep socket to change them out on the side of the road. What Jase hasn’t found out yet, is that there’s a separate computer called an IDM (Injector Drive Module) that controls the firing order of the injectors from that Cam Position Sensor. The IDM, is “sandwiched” between the inner and outer skin of the LH front mudguard and down about top of wheel height. When you go through a deep water crossing that IDM will get wet, and when it does the pin connector has 9 pins, one power for each injector and one common earth. The water allows the power to track between the pins and create an electrical pathway along the pin bus that stops either all of one bank of 4 cylinders or both banks 8 cylinders from firing at all. I’m not the only one it happened to here in Oz, Bevan Steele (Steelos Guns & Sport Shop in Narrogin WA as well) - when it happens your up for a new IDM ($1500) and of course you have to exchange / ship the old one back to USA where they rebuild / refurbish them. Then there’s the need for a diagnostic program to discern the fault codes to know what’s wrong, ($1500) from USA. All up the F250 was off the road for 8 months with 3 different repairers before it was finally fixed. It cost $15k to fix. It was under Ford Factory Warranty at the time but when I went to pick it up - they refused to honour the warranty and I HAD to pay the $15k to get my truck back. There’s also a known recall from Ford on your new model F250 on the rear axle tube. It’s too thin and crushes under the tension of the UBolts securing it. See “Lapping The Island” KZbin channel with his experience with that issue. It’s a Ford Recall in USA but they won’t honour it on vehicles exported to Aus - so the importer / RHD conversion company / re-seller in Oz had to foot the bill. They are good trucks - but they have their known issues. You have to live with them long enough to work out what all those issues are. I watched your series in the NT with the F250 doing water crossings waiting for you to drown the IDM but with the size wheels and 4 inch lift you never went deep enough to get the IDzm wet but one day you will. In the USA - the only time they confront water that deep, it’s in the form of snow, it’s frozen & it doesn’t flow inside between the inner & outer LH mudguard to soak the IDMs so it doesn’t seem to be such a big issue Stateside. Not so much downunder. Wait n see.

YESSSS exactly! They're not made for water crossings! Frankly, wtf car is that isn't clearly advertised as such? There's a video of a young bloke on youtube bypassing the starter solenoid on a 2021 f250 and putting a button start hanging out the bonnet because the starter solenoid is soldered/hard wired into the fuse box which is sitting flat in the rear corner of the engine bay where mud can force its way under the fuse box lid. What a fuck up.

To demonstrate stability and road holding ability at speeds commonly found in wet freeway-highway conditions with the 4x4 tires of your choice and high-sidewall-height road tires in off-road conditions. Specifically 205r65, or 197r95 perhaps would be interesting on your 4x4 setup. As those tire shapes solve some of the limiting factors the r35 the sidewall delivered in that episode. The narrow OEM tire on an F250 is a 245/70 and you can only get that size in a XL trim work truck. The most common size for non-Tremor trucks is 275/70R18. This would be an E load range 80 psi tire that is plenty stiff. The F250s handle very well for their size, but not as well as the F350s (especially F350 DRW). Luckily the F250 is tall enough that the grill would actually contact the body of a moose rather than taking the legs out and having the body come across the hood. I have seen many moose collisions that resulted in fatalities when the moose came through the windshield (Northern Ontario Canada). The chances of a driver seeing a moose and reacting in time to avoid a collision is very low especially at night or at times with reduced visibility. The whole moose avoidance test is flawed.

Old mate is definitely not happy with it love's what it doe's but now can't trust the engine so it's going up for sale. They all have problems even the F250 included. Tremor is a package that you can add to any trim of short box Super Duty. So Lariat Tremor is accurate. The axle housing issue was a problem with specific lots of the Dana rear being out of spec. Dana fixed the issue and replaces any axle that has a problem. I ran a Cummins ISB for 12 years and loved it, but they have made some changes to the ISB that has brought some problems. The ISB hasn't been bulletproof since they swapped out the solid lifters and then there is that heater grid issue. Each of the HD truck manufacturers has their own set of problems.
