I had the rare privilege of acting alongside these fine humans when we were at Grossmont College in 2007. We studied under a classically trained mime by the name of Jerry Hager, among many other talented teachers. Jon rode a unicycle to class, David always had a voice like honey poured over thunder, and Rabbit was always stealing the scene. Cheers fellows!!

I love how Spine hits soprano notes in some songs, baritone in others, and goes into a throat voice in Honeybee. It's a very difficult sound to produce and having the ability to do so plus having a wide vocal range while sounding sexy as hell is amazing to me. Also doing that while playing one of the many instruments he's skilled in and keeping up the persona of Spine.

This is my favorite music video. First of all I just can't take my eyes off of Rabbit in this video, I love every single movement she makes, it's so amazing to watch. Some other small details I love: - any time The Spine says "baby" - The Spine's costume changes to black and white during the bridge 2:38 - The costumes progressively adding more accessories (glasses, jackets, and belts oh my) 3:11 - 3:27 the twins slowly look at The Jon until he starts drumming again - 3:40 Rabbit's jacket blowing in the wind that's only affecting hers and not The Spine's - 3:44 melodica with distortion added???? These folks are just so cool, I can't get enough.

Lyrics: Ever since the first time I opened my eyes I've awakened to the same thing Other automaton friends roughly built like me The first time I opened my mouth to speak steam escaped to the air and black oil dripped from my lips and onto the ground Well daylight struck a chord with my photo-receptors Night greeted me with a sea of stars Our eyes all flashed blues and greens through the night It's just our Aaaaaaaaaah Automatonic Electronic Harmonics People are soaring, always exploring, higher than they've ever been before But we are still down here, feet on the ground near what will rise us up with the rest Our thoughts are quixotic, stark and robotic, mechanical in nature all the time And pulses are firing in our head wiring, guiding all our actions and beings It's just our Aaaaaaaaaah Automatonic Electronic Harmonics I am not an unimaginable thing My thoughts are tangible though they're full of springs I don't have the heart to send you untruthful words My skin is cold to the touch and made from the earth They say Oh, oh it's so down, but baby it's sound makes your worries cease to pound And oh, maybe it's alright, 'cause baby it fights for some time just to be held tight And oh, maybe it's not wrong, 'cause it sings a lovely song one that drifts on for so long And oh, baby let's not lie, it's eyes are alive and pointed up shining light to the sky It's just our Aaaaaaaaaah Automatonic Electronic Harmonics Epic and so cool Epic and so cool Epic and so cool Epic and so cool Aaaaaaaaaah Automatonic Electronic Harmonics Aaaaaaaaaah Automatonic Electronic Harmonics

I don't know if it is because of my particular personal moment in life, but these guys have really managed to struck a chord with me. They are far from what I expected when I decided to check out a "Steampunk band that move like robots", they're actually much better than I ever imagined. I admire people who can stick to what they want to do even while being aware that it won't be everybody's cup of tea.

I was lucky enough to see them at the Renaissance Pleasure Faire in Irvine, California, in 2018, and their performance was AMAZING.I can "blame" my wife for that. She found them on the list of performers at the faire and thought they sounded interesting because of their name--also, I think she looked them up on KZbin and listened to some of their music--plus, they're Steampunk, something she knew I liked, so she, told me, "You gotta check these guys out! They're cool and they're Steampunk robots! Right up your alley!" So we went. :-) Loved everything they played. The goofy stuff they did between songs, with "breakdowns" and needing to be "fixed", a robot "nurse" coming out to make quickie "repairs", the band talking about having only limited time in the Renaissance time period--they were obviously anachronisms traveling in time and space. LOL So much fun to see them in action. And the black member--I'm so sorry to have to describe that way, as I don't know his character's name--his voice is fucking astounding; he performed a song for the first time ever that he'd written, and it was GORGEOUS. Their costumes were really cool, too, lots of detail, and a lot of it looked like stuff I'd wear on pretty much a daily basis if I had it in my wardrobe. Ancient Goth over here. LOL So much fun to see them perform in person.
