i'll never understand how performers do that thing they do with the making you feel things with a song just by emotion but i love it. like. i have no personal connection to this song in a normal sense. i've never had the feelings that are being sung about. but it still makes me feel something. and they do it every time every performance. it is a special little mystical magic that i'm glad exists in this world.

It seems like Rabbit tends to malfunction a lot more when she's distressed; her movements become a lot jerkier and more robotic, and her ticks and twitches seem to multiply. And to keep that up while belting it out, damn Bunny is an impressive performer!

You know, this song is truly beautiful all around, but I find the line, "I let myself go" particularly significant. Sure, the robots are supposed to be over a century old, and the general implication of the song is the Rabbit had fallen in love with a human and lost them because the robots are supposed to be unaging, but they're not immortal. I think the song highlights the inevitability that the robots will, themselves, eventually die. They rust, fall apart, time passes, and even with constant maintenance from the Walter Workers, eventually they'll fall apart and cease to function, essentially ending their lives. If they were to ever end the band (God forbid), it seems logical that that is how they would end the story of the robots. I can honestly picture Rabbit singing this song to themself in their final moments as their systems finally give out and their gears seize up.

Idk why, but Rabbit's malfuction didn't break my heart quite as much as watching her at 4:54 to 5:08, where she tried to embrace the air and opened her eyes, only to realize nothing was there...
