Journalists should also be asking the government where are those EURO BOND contract documents.

Youre very right the buck stops with the MPs. Their job is to hold the executive spending and borrowing to account. They dont do that as they were sorted by also getting a small cake CDF where they can also spending. Until we remove the notion that an MP brings development we are doomed.

No! The buck stops with the Mwananchi. When we, as wananchi, don't hold the MP accountable for (mis)use of the NG-CDF funds, why would you want him (they collectively) to hold the executive to account? The buck for all the mess Kenya is in stops with the wananchi wenyewe. I looked at the OAGKenya website for the last Audited reports for NG-CDF. The most recent last two NG-CDF Audit reports are for 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 signed by the Auditor General in February 2022 and September, 2022, respectively. Wouldn't one have expected that the OAG website would by now, March 2024, have had at least the 2021/2022 report out? Why is it not posted? We then would expect the 2022/2023 audit report to be out latest in September 2024? But then which Mwananchi cares? Wouldn't it appear like the OAG office is colluding with sitting MPs to delay public issuance of reports? Delayed audit reports make good sense to sitting MPs. Malfeasance by their teams don't get opened till there terms get to end. How many of constituents ever know the MPs two or so flagship projects for the 5 year term? What about each year? Who gets to know how much has actually be distributed for bursaries during each financial year and how the distribution was per ward and to whom? They won't make any reports, they don't want to be asked and they won't be asked. Washenzi sisi.

A good conversation. The guest AL kags focused our minds where they ought to be - the 70 -80% of Africans and this daily reality in 2024. Where I think the conversation FAILED - a big let down for such a highly esteemed Cadre of minds - was in not stating the OBVIOUS!!!! Ruto, the AU, ECOWAS, most African governments, do NOT rely on that 70-80% for funding or financing but from Their multilateral lenders and foreign entities!!! That is partly why it is hard for 'wanjiku' to hold their government accountable! This is why our Heads of State dance to the tune of their Masters and NOT mwananchi. It is hard for the Kilifi or Turkana mother to complain about the absence of a road or borehole, when the money for it came from Norway, or USAID, or an NGO (and got embezzled).

There are so many organizations of change makers in Kenya. The only change I see is for the worse, not for the better. The middle class and rich in Kenya are silent, because they are not the ones suffering.

Kenyans let's face the truth, and get me right this personal, why do we have a government in the first place? and more specifically why do we have a president whose specific job is to hold those we've elected to represent us accountable, not doing his jobs? So is there any point of having representatives when all they think about is making themselves rich? Why don't we just represent ourselves if it can actually work? every community contribute their own money and building their own toilets, hospitals, roads and all that

The govt should insist that every county budget proposal after its finalized an itemized list of all proposed projects need to be made public. A notice on a billboard availed in a public place at the county, ward to the village should post what projects were proposed, the budgeted amount so that the public can see and hold officials like their MCAs to account if things are not done. The problem is no one knows what projects have been proposed so they move on with their business. For instance if the CDF funds were meant to build a school, that project should be made public to the area affected that a school was proposed and the amount is this much and of course other details like when the project is to start and end. This way the public knows.
