Videos and pics do show Mel in early January '97, performing in TV shows/photoshoots while still sporting chestnut hair. A true gem of a girl regardless, of course.

She's definitely the best and most important member. However I think each of the girls gave their own contribution to make the Spice Girls the biggest band ever. The secret of their success is "five different vocal timbres and personalities".The vocal backbone is made by Sporty (soul, power, distinct sound, rock touch), Baby (sugary-sweet pop sound) and Scary (sultry R&B sound). Followed by secondary singers Ginger (husky tone) and Victoria (soft tone). Each of them wrote their own lyrics and took control of their careers. They weren't manufactured dolls as people used to say, they were actually five bosses.

It's such a good thing to see how much fun they had while making the video. It's not like today, where every move is just one more frame to be super sexy and unreachable.. In nearly all of their videos you can see them truly smiling. That's not just rare today, but impossible! Today every second has to be on top and not one small inch away from the choreography.. Sad! Nothing but sad.. And the music has no soul anymore.. Look a the spice girls! No auto tune, no weird effects over their voices, just them and a good microphone plus exelent mastering! I remember in primary school, we had a school talent show concert thing, so me and my best friends sang this. It wasn't even our favourite song, I just had it stuck in my head and thought it would be a good idea. Listening to this is so nostalgic and looking back we were so happy for doing it. Our music teacher was hyping us up like we were a famous band. The only reason I'm back here is bc my best friend who I sung this with sent me this in the middle of the night. +MrJesse2001 Yes we had the boybands and girl groups making great pop tunes; babie girl, wannabe, 5 6 7 8, Macarena, ketchup song and etc. Punk and rock bands like Green day, Red hot cp, and Oasis were raw and relevant. Madonna was Vouging and MJ was in black and white. And the divas like Celine, Whitney and Mariah could belt their lung out on the stage live. It was indeed great time :-)
