Me either. I could never eat wobbly, fatty meat, but I instantly believe Mike, when he says it's delicious.
@NinjaDimes5 жыл бұрын
You can train yourself to enjoy some foods by introducing a version of them that is palatable and going from there. I used to be a super picky eater as a kid, but my Dad always told me that having a varied palate was having the 'keys to the world,' because it meant that if I traveled, there would always be something I could eat in another culture. It helped me try more things, and after a while I did get used to them. I used to hate fish and seafood, onion (both raw and cooked), chickpeas, peas, beans, pickles, eggs, curry, olives, mushrooms... there was a lot. Now I eat all of those things, some of the things I hated, I really love now-- I love pickles, olives, and curry. I really like chickpeas too and I really used to hate them. Oh and medium rare steak-- the idea of that would have made me gag years ago, and now I just love it. With things like raw onion, I'd pick them off my burgers all the time, until one time I left one in and I ate it and it wasn't that bad. And so I did it again. And again. And after a while I got used to it, and even like it. Now I will add them myself, to sandwiches or salads, etc. With fish, I'd only eat crumbed fried fish, since I hated 'fishy' tastes so much. Well, turns out I was eating pretty meh fish-- good fresh fish doesn't taste fishy at all. So my mother made me a simple recipe with a beautiful white flaky fish (it was Red Emperor) with olive oil, lemon, bit of garlic and italian parsley and it was amazing. At first, I'd only have a little, like a couple of bites, then like a quarter of the fillet but after a while I could eat the fillet, especially with a crispy garden salad next to it, the two textures together really work. Now I love fish, although I prefer some types of fish to others. As for seafood, I always liked squid and stuff so can't help you there, but I will say fried calamari was my gateway into that. Again, I think quality is key, it's so easy to find meh store-bought calamari that are rubbery and gross and of course they would put you off. Once I ate the good stuff, I could see the appeal. Things cooked right make a big difference, especially for fish. Couple of foods do bother me still and I could never really get over-- gelatinous meaty stuff, so tripe, pigs feet and stuff, I mean I would try it but I don't enjoy it... same with chicken thigh or chicken on the bone-- no matter how many freaking times I eat it, it's still not my favorite-- I really struggle with the texture of chicken thigh. And some fried stuff can give me nausea, same with spicy. (I mean, I like it, but I have a weak stomach so I have to be careful). But I no longer actively gag when I eat or try those things. I just want you to know there is hope, start small, just have a tiny bit and then try to have a bit more next time. You can totally learn to like (some) things you hate. And if not, don't feel bad. Even Mikey doesn't like certain things-- like coffee. Heck, even Andrew Zimmern (of Bizarre Foods show) hates walnuts.

The duck egg ones are a classic as gifts. Rule of thumb, if someone gave you one of the extra large mooncakes for free, its got an egg or two in it. The red bean paste and black sesame ones are my favourite, with lotus being a runner up. Durian mooncakes are great too when they're chilled.
