The reason you don't notice the pillion on the back is there's so much torque you don't have a pillion anymore. ;)

It's a BMW spicy, they don't expect you to use the indicators... at least that's what it seems like for the car drivers. starecat.com/content/wp-content/uploads/ebay-bmw-indicator-stalk-barely-used.jpg

I just bought one of the even darker, the iconic 100. And some will laugh at me paying so much, not knowing that it cost me peanuts in Euro terms, and Euro is what paid for it. Ah, Brexit! It's an ill wind that blows no good. ;-)

Nothing wrong with the capabilities of this bike, although I do find the switchgear feels a little bit flimsy - I think it's the material they use. The main reason they get such a bad rap is the stereotypical person riding them. These are the only bikes that I've never received a wave/nod back from, no idea why.

compare it to the KTM equivalent. Who cares what people say about the GS. Most have never travelled distance on a bike

Nice review man, like you said it's got a purpose to munch miles on big tours. I wouldn't like to filter everyday on it though as I know I'd end up clacking a few wing mirrors off. 👍

Every vid I've seen drivers in England seem to respect motorbikes better than in the States.
@stuontwo677
@stuontwo677 6 жыл бұрын
This is not the case. It actually depends on where in the UK you live. If you're in an area that has more bikers drivers i'd say are marginally more aware. However in my experience they're all out to kill us bikers and you have to ride so defensively to protect yourself.

Lots of people seem concerned with the seat hight of this bike, but bmw also do a lower frame version as well as a lower seat option and when i sat on it at the stealers, my feet were flat on the ground and my knees slightly bent and i'm only 5ft 8". So visit a dealer and try, i dont own one btw, i have a Mt09/Fj09 tracer, poor mans GS. 😆

would they not lend you a navigator v? as a sat nav its a bit poopie compared to tom-tom for iphone, but it becomes a part of the bike, lots of useful information available.

Excellent talk-through vid! I've just got a 'Triple Black' edition and I can say that I agree with everything you commented on - 1st gear can be a bit 'jumpy', gearbox a bit 'clunky' (at times) and clutch is very smooth, but with little 'feel' or 'feedback', but my God - what a bike to put a smile on your face! Extremely smooth, nimble, torquey and also great looking. Thanks again - great review!

Try the 1200RS, they are smashing the only downside is they have swapped to a conventional front end which for me as a long time telelever front end user (numerous R1150's & 1200) is a retrograde step from BMW.

This is a brilliant in depth review! It's an amazing piece of ze German engineering. Although I am surprised they didn't make the screen electronically adjustable like the new Tiger. I think I'd definitely have one if I had a deep enough wallet. Great work Spicy!

Question about that keyless system. If the key gets out of range does it kill the bike? So say you drop your key out of your pocket when leaving the house, will the bike turn off at the end of the drive, or are you going to get to work, turn your bike off and find the key to start it again is at home? Equally, if you park up and don't have locks or anything, e.g. while going to pay for petrol say, what's to stop someone just walking up as soon as you turn your back, pressing start and fucking off with it?
@spicy110
@spicy110 8 жыл бұрын
+Spectre223 as I understand it, if the key gets out of range the bike will not die. But once you turn the bike off it will not restart. As for the security issues that's the same with any keyless system. I'm not the guy to answer those exact questions
@TheSpectre223
@TheSpectre223 8 жыл бұрын
It's something that's always worried me about keyless systems generally, I always see the risks far outweighing the time saved by putting a key in an ignition. Thanks for replying though :)

***** That's the worry, end up stranded because you don't realise you don't have the key until you get to your destination
