I'm not 100% sure but I think even more mature spiders do this, they are one of the first critters to show up on newly formed islands. They launch by streaming out Web from a high perch into the prevailing wind until there is enough to lift them into the air, and away they go, they have even been found up in the jet streams, but I would imagine for every one that ends up on an island probably a million became fish food.

i never kill the spiders that live in my home. although they do like my bath tub for whatever reason. i use the end of a tube of toothpaste, to help guide the spider onto it, then put him on the window sill outside the bathroom. for the much bigger spiders i use the much more classic, cup and piece of paper trick, and put them in the bush in my front garden. i got a poor 6 legged spider who lives on my bedroom window, on the outside, exposed to the elements. it has only 2 legs on one side of its body, but all 4 on its other side. but despite its handicap, i saw it repair its web after a mighty gale we had yesterday, and it was wrapping up a fly today, so its doing alright for itself!

spider can regrow lost limbs so it will probably be fine. the spiders don't like your bathtub they just fall in there and can't get back out. thats why its a good idea to have a towel draped over the side of the bath so they can climb out if they get stuck. spiders in your house are far more advantageous than they are a pest. I just leave them to get on with their bug killing business I'd much rather have some spiders than flies or roaches

1st time I noticed any jumping spider was when I was about 12. I was sitting next to a wood pile and noticed a fly land on a pile of concrete blocks a couple feet from me. All of a sudden out of nowhere something jumped on the fly, wrestling it for a second, winning the fight. It was a jumping spider that was 8 inches about the spider and about 6 inches out. It was amazing and I never forgot it. HAHAHAHA

Fascinating creatures in so many ways. And can aid humans in pest removal, as they do not possess any pathogenes or cause any sickness by their presence in the home. But there is something very wrong about how they look and move. Something in our genes that fear them. Instincts we learned from primal days of our ancestors we can't explain today. There's no way around that feeling.

@@DrawsRene arthropods are limited in size by the amount of oxygen present in the atmosphere to support their growth. They breathe through small holes in their exoskeleton. In the age of dinosaurs they were big enough to eat raptors, if not for the meteor rain that killed most of life they would be unstoppable and we would not be alive to tell our tale. @@youtubestudiosucks978 First of all, the age of the giant insects was not during the time of the dinosaurs, it was during the carboniferous when life was developing on land this was way before the age of the dinosaurs. Second with the global temperature rising and humidity going up insects are going to only breed faster and we'll experience swarms of them everywhere, which will create pestilence and cause famines as crops and food storages are completely destroyed. Last but not least, we need oxygen to help muscle development, the more oxygen in the air the bigger our muscles can grow.

Although I draw the line with spiders living inside my house, I've bought a pest remover called comedically "Bugzooka." Outside, however, I let them be. I had a decent-sized spider that lived under my outside window. I'd capture carpenter ants and feed her. She eventually learned to run out when she heard footsteps. I was excited when I found one of those huge orb-weaving garden spiders (size of a hand) hanging out above my garden. It's considered good luck, and I got lots of crops (due to healthy leaves from this spider eating pests). Thanks to my living in a basement when I was young (having spiders crawl on my face as I slept), I've created a symbiotic understanding with spiders. Love them.

(Condensed info at the bottom). There is also a pseudo-mammal jumping spider. The female gives birth to a very small amount (for a spider) young, comparable to most mammals, which she gives milk to. The milk (for now) is believed to be re-used un-fertilized eggs, hence not a true mammal I assume, but it is completely identical in function. The babies feed solely on milk, without it and the mother's care they die. The species is actually an ant mimic too and it is located in China. They mother has the same affection for her offspring as humans (better imo) as the kids can stay in the den until they reach maturity, and even after the females can still stay (or visit I guess) if they want, while the males do get kicked out when reaching adult stage generally, just like humans, they must travel to make their own family. But, as spiders go, I don't think the male lives with his family, probably due to their shortened lifespan, not to mention no real benefit here from the male anyway. There is no benefit of the offspring staying with their mother in their adulthood, so it's almost as if there is a lot of affection/love going on. I also assume the males couldn't stay even if the mother wanted it as their lifespan would not allow them to just live there for a while and then go onto find a female, so it's a really necessary thing that the mother tells them to leave. Perhaps.. And this is just my theory, these spiders evolved this behaviour in part from being close to ants (if they are that kind of ant mimic, not all mimics stay close to ants necessarily, and not all prey on them either) they picked up the whole family structure, but most likely it was just a similar evolutionary path to us, where instead of hundreds of offspring of which

I wish that I was your daughter… Unfortunately, my arachnophobia stemmed from the fact that I had a lot of surgeries after I was born due to a major birth defect, and my very first memory was having my stitches being taken out from my stomach when I was just before three years old… They looked like insect legs to me and I was screaming bloody murder as I was squeezing my mom’s hand while they took them out. The 2nd biggest spider is the Goliath bird eater which is a turantula, but when taking leg span out of the picture, the Goliath bird eater would be considered the biggest.

I had an orbweaver live for several years on the window pane on the door to my balcony. Brilliant place to put a web, if it wasn't because I live so far up that most insects don't fly that high in the summer. But she apparently still got enough food to survive several years there. I quite frequently checked up on her and she would burrow in the dirt of my flowerpots in the winter. Interesting beings, those spiders. As a kid I liked to "pet" them by gently running a finger down their abdomen, but as an adult I've realized that was a bad idea, as I must have scared them like hell. But they're definitely interesting to watch. Nature is a marvelous place and we can only wonder at its vast diversity.

It then differentiated another ant behind a clear glass/plastic wall.. Very impressive, same reaction as Elephants, matter of fact.

I am fascinated by spiders, I want to know more about what they are thinking.. Their characteristics are amazing. Everytime i see a jumping spider, I play with it and allow it to go in peace. The ugly garden spiders on my deck, i allow to set up their webs with one rule, Don't build one that i walk through. If this happens, i don't hurt it, i relocate it. They are good at catching flies and Mosquitoes. But once again, the jumping spider seems to have a unique personality and i want to know what he thinks. I put my finger in front of them and they are caseous, but eventually climb on and explore. I set them back down to let them go on their way. I always wonder what their little brain is thinking.

About 10 days or so ago, I was getting ready to build a puzzle and I happened to notice a very tiny little spider on my puzzle table. I got a clear look at it and it was only about 2mm in size and it was the tiniest little jumping spider I've ever seen. I took two pictures of it, with a penny for size reference and moved him back up to my TV to keep him safe

I live in a city in the Central Europe, so the biggest pider I have seen (aside from zoos and pet shops) is European garden spider. We almost never kill spiders in our home. If it's possible, we grab a paper and a glass, catch the spider, and send him out on our window/balcony. Except for when we have to clean whole apartment and mom grabs a vacuum. No mercy from her then.

" yeah sorry his legs are curled up, that usually happens when they die, unless it's a red back, they kind of roll into a ball, if you harrass them and there's no web to run back into, I like the red backs, I think some other parts of the world refer to them as black widows, but I think they are the sports car of spiders, sleek with racing stripes xx

I used to be terrified of spiders until 2002 when I was looking for my late dog. The pet shop lady challenged me to hold a Chilean Rose spider. After her defensive fang showing the spider was placed in my hands. She was as big as my palm. She crawled over my hands and I couldn't feel her. That was kinda interesting. Well the spider rested in my two hands and I started to involuntarily shake. I remembered the defensive posture, upright, fangs out and I was scared and started to shake. The spider didn't care. I wonder if she fell asleep. Thanks to that spider not hurting me, she did exactly what past dogs did. Prove that there's nothing to fear. Not scared of dogs not scared of spiders. And thanks to teacher cats, not scared of cats and am an owner. In short, even a spider can be a great teacher. We may look gruesome but we're OK people. The End.
