Came for the Venom review... got a great cook video as a bonus! Great job! You got me to subscribe. I'm seriously thinking of getting the venom now to refresh my 10 year old weber kettle and give it new life.

thank you! I try my best :) I'm a huge Weber Kettle fan. the simplicity of it always pulled me to it. I wasn't using mine for YEARS. then one summer dusted it off and got hooked. The venom is honestly my favorite addition. It makes cooking with coal really easy. Set and forget kind of approach (which I'm a big fan of). Thanks for subscribing! Just a note, I'm making a video on adding in a modification on the Weber Kettle too, will just make yours 1000x better. Either this weekend or next it will be released :)

Can you find out if you can use the venom and spider pellet grill together on the 22inch Weber grill

They confirmed that it’s not possible. Also the 22 controls the temp as it is a pellet attachment.

When you open the lid, do you put the venom on pause?

No, otherwise I’d be pausing and starting too much. It’s good for the unit to show the drop in temp so you can see the spot you opened later on the graph.

What’s the reason for the foil above the venom? Is that recommended by the manufacturer to protect it? Or just something you did just in case?
@ImpossiblyKosher Жыл бұрын
I was waiting for someone to ask lol! Before I got the venom I was using my ThermoWorks billows attachment. For that I had to drill a hole. You can actually see it right above the venom in the video. While I was waiting for my smoke port cover, which you can see in my more recent venom videos, I was worried that the heat from inside the kettle would damage it. So, I put an aluminum foil over it. Once I got the cover, never used aluminum again.

Nice video man. I been using mine for a while now and I really do like it. Do you have any recommendations when it comes to low and slow? I did 12 briquettes and dumped them in my slow n sear. However once it reached 225 it shot up to 300 and took a while to come back down.
@ImpossiblyKosher2 жыл бұрын
Ya. The issue is that the coals ignite each other so when you dump them on top, they start igniting then those under and around them and so on. I’d light 4-6 and put on the edge of the low and sear pile.

@@ImpossiblyKosher That's so helpful! I am definitely going to do that. Let me ask your opinion about some thing if you don't mind. My dad and I take our Weber with us when we're tailgating, which means putting it in the back of the truck with a cover on it for travel. Do you think it would be very hard to put maybe metal latches that would hold the lid to the body while it was going down the road? Do you think there's anything out there that's like that, or should we just try to make something out of some hardware? I love your channel! Thank you so much!
@ImpossiblyKosher2 ай бұрын
@@TryMyMartini When you say hold it down, do you mean on all sides? if yes, then, no it shouldn't be too hard! You would need to drill some sort of clasp on the cover I'd think. Honestly though, I'd suggest something more along the lines of this, where you hinge the cover to the base, then just put tape on the opposite side, which should hold it in place. amzn.to/3yZ9JkK
@TryMyMartini2 ай бұрын
@@ImpossiblyKosher I was thinking it may be like three latches, though actually two across from each other would probably be sufficient. Tape would definitely work, but I think I would want the fix to be something easy to snap on and off. Latches would be a more permanent solution for traveling back-and-forth, so that in the back of the truck it was latched down while it was going down the road. I was hesitant to do any drilling, but since you made it look pretty easy with the grommet and heat resistant paint, I think I'm gonna give it a shot. I'll come back and let you know how it went! Thanks a bunch, love your channel!
@ImpossiblyKosher2 ай бұрын
@TryMyMartini sounds good! Let me know how it works :) Just go slow when drilling and you’ll see, it’s no big deal. Also make sure the bits you are using are either new or sharp. Good luck!

Does the Slow & Sear go on the same side as the Venom unit?

If they are telling you how much to open the top vent, is it really doing that much to control Temps? Or is it just an aid to reach Temps faster?
@ImpossiblyKosher Жыл бұрын
Great question! On the Weber Kettle you have the top vent and bottom exhaust. The Venom sits and controls airflow going into the unit from the bottom exhaust. If it is a higher temp cook, the airflow needs to stay heavily available throughout. In general When the top vent is opened, it sucks air through the kettle, so the more it’s open the more it sucks the air in the more airflow that can run through keeping or making it hotter. Versus when it’s slightly opened, it doesn’t pull as much air through. So the appliance basically tells you to open it just a little bit in order to keep whatever air is inside and being pulled out to a minimum or open all the way to keep air flowing out. Then the Venom cuts the air going in when needed as needed to control the temp and maintain it. It’s performance honestly speaks for itself, and it was able to control throughout almost every cook. I’ve done, no matter the weather conditions within 5 to 10° variance.
@Scarekrow24 Жыл бұрын
So if I set it to a different temp on the app or on the control module, I would have to readjust the top vent?
@ImpossiblyKosher Жыл бұрын
Yes, but there are only options. Closed, 1/4, 1/2 3/4 and full open. Usually if low and slow you won’t need to touch anything. If low to high then most likely yes will need adjustment
@BradTiplady-os5qr12 күн бұрын
Sorry mate but you have it the wrong way around. The bottom vent is the air inlet and the top vent is the exhaust. The reason why the Spider controls the inlet is because it controls the kettle’s temperature the most, while the top exhaust vent is just for fine tuning.

Since it is a permanent install, is it weather proof? Maybe a removable interface. My grill gets used often but it is on my outside deck 12 months out of the year. We cover it , But have been caught with our pants down sort of speak, like when it is too hot to cover and we forget and it rains the next morning. Great video Thanks Craig.
@ImpossiblyKosher2 жыл бұрын
Hey Craig, actually it's not permanent, just a pain to uninstall. Nonetheless, it is weatherproof (rain, sun and snow), I'm in Montreal, Canada so snow is always a concern. I agree, the removable interface would be a great feature on a future model. I shared that with them too :). I cover it with my Weber Kettle cover and it keeps very well. But just a point that the WK doesn't need to be covered if it rains, it survives quite a bit. But I'd definitely let it cool down before getting the cover on it.
