I do like the game as I've been playing it a lot lately myself as I bought it back when it was in early acess and whilst it's not my GOTY I can see how it got given that honour. @@DarthAscension RE4 is similar, but made some changes to make it different than the Og, Mario Wonder changed its art style away from the repetitive “New” Mario games, and TOTK, I have yet to play. Spider-Man did nothing. Play the first game and the sequel and you might see just how samey it is. Sure the map is bigger, but the gameplay is still Spider-Man. Enjoyable sure, but still the same.

@@DarthAscension lets break down the games you named RE4 is a remake of an old game the diff here is the RE series might be repetative but they are different from each other RE4 took place in africa while RE bio hazard took place in a swamp with different mechanics to them now lets compair spiderman 2 to the first spiderman game same map just bigger you get less of actual spiderman and get to play miles and other characters more other than that the combat is the same not even a air combat mechanic or wall combat to help it outshine the first game it's basically an open world with alot of npc but it also feels empty because npcs there are just there for props nothing else. TOTK what different from it to BOTW well it uses entirly new mechanics you get to make contraptions from cars to flying machine you can get creative how you progress. Spiderman 2 just feels like a scnematic game nothing else after the story theres nothing else going for it unlike something like the arkham series when even after beating the game theres still alot to-do while after you finish Spiderman 2 story it doesn't feeld like you have anything else todo sure you can do the side quest but it dosent connect to the game so it feels like there's no point to doing it unlike in the arkham series where every villain major or minor main or side quest feels like it's part of the game not just trown in for extra play time.

As someone who has both AC6 and Spider man two, I’ll say, I prefer AC6 on a fair amount of stuff. Such as setting, music, customization, gameplay, sound design and even characters to a certain degree, (but that’s mostly because Rusty is fucking awesome) but that doesn’t mean Spider man is bad, it’s good, great even, but it was nothing compared to the others.

I played all three of Insomniac's Spider-Man games. I really loved 2018, Miles Morales was alright but Spider-Man 2 was just a bad game. I'm glad it won zero awards. Not even Yuri Lowenthal's performance, which was decent, deserved a win. Every single winner was picked rather perfectly, to be honest. Also, I must say: I got to 87% total completion in Spider-Man 2, and as I was playing I was falling asleep. That rarely happens with games for first playthroughs. Such as Devil May Cry 2, the niquil of gaming. So, take that as you will.

Baldur's is a kino comfy boomer game with a lot of good tech behind and just a bunch of other narrative stuff. that's not to say others weren't merited to be on the lists. even that Starfield, in a way. and Star Wars Jedi over Insomniac Spiderman any day. even though it's linear. Tears of the Kingdom Zelda and Spiderman 2 are just DLCs. their original games received all the awards they merit. To me both games are even below the sequel Alan Wake 2 because that story at least is unique and has the whole Remedyverse behind it, connecting Control, Quantum Break and even Max Payne with its lore. Armored Core has great lore too but it's rather simplistic and it's a more gameplay focused game rather than an epic. to me GOTY is the successful combination of new tech, story and gameplay. that's why indies have no business being in that category except maybe for outliers like Hades. even indie looking games because games like Dave the diver despite having a team out of a triple A studio, they still receive overall less resources and smaller budget, same as their peers from actual indie studios.

I’m gonna play devil’s advocate when it comes to these individuals. I knew Baldur’s Gate was gonna win GOTY (And rightfully so), but I did expect Spider Man to win a few awards, particularly Action/Adventure, Yuri Lowenthal and Innovation in Accessibility. Was I surprised that it won jack shit? For sure. Was I upset? Hell no!

That's not true. You're probably thinking about the Steam Awards. The Game Awards were only like 10% weighed towards a popular vote. The other 90% were judges made mostly of critics.

How ac6 wasn’t nominated for goty but Mario and Spider-Man 2 were is crazy, I like Spider-Man and haven’t played Mario but those were the weakest of them and even if AC6 was nominated BG3 would still win and I don’t even really care for games like it but that doesn’t mean it’s not a masterpiece

See. This is the issue with ppl that dont understand games. Spiderman 2 wasnt that good compared to god of war ragnarok or sumn. Last yr for game awards i knew it was going to be a close call for Elden ring and God of war. But elden ring was Going to get the better advantage because of open world. But ppl dont understand there are Going to be better games than ur favorite(s) its common sense
