@Bradyn Kerr the problem with MCU Spidey is that it completely strips almost everything about the character from the comics to the point where they don't feel like the same characters or at least an adaptation of the character. The movies themselves, Homecoming and FFH are no Spider-Man 1 and Spider-Man 2. They feel like just another cog in the machine and Jon Watts has no style, flair and doesn't bring in any uniqueness to the table. With Raimi back to do Doctor Strange, if Marvel Studios gives him all the creative freedom, the MCU can get its hands on its first masterpiece.

These are the two best super hero movies ever made, they both have some flaws but most importantly they both really stand out in some areas, which is why in my opinion it all comes down to preference, there are enough great things to say for both movies to make them sound like the best without having to nitpick the movie that you don't like the most. In The Dark Knight you have things like the best Joker ever in a live action film, a perfect casting for every character, amazing score and probably the best first 5 minutes in any movie ever. In Spiderman 2 you have the best casting of any comic book character (J.Jonah Jameson), the best aunt may in any film, arguably the best hero of any movie and also an amazing score. My point is that any answer to the question "which is better The Dark Knight or Spiderman 2?" should be accepted because really there's no right choice, there's only the choice that fits you best. Maybe you like a story telling masterpiece that completely changed the course of superhero movies for at least the next decade, or maybe you like the story of a young boy having to deal with the responsability that all superheroes have to carry and how that hero gives hope to an entire city at the expense of ruining the boy's personal life. Whichever one you choose you shouldn't try to make the other look worse because y'know you just don't need to.

Spider-Man 2 is the winner. The Dark Knight is a plot hole filled mess with half baked characters. Spider-Man 2 did great job with both protagonist and antagonist. I think he missed the point of the Dark Knight. The Dark Knight was never about the heroes journey like it was in the first movie. It was very much about identity, and what Batman had to be for Gotham, no matter if that makes him the villian, which is what Joker wanted. It was always about how Joker won, and how Batman and Gordon had to keep the image of Harvey clean, which backfires in Dark Knight Rises

Paul Robinson As far as superhero movies go, my vote goes for "Spiderman 2", which I believes captures the tone and point of superhero stories. While some can enjoy it as fun escapism, we feel the stakes in Spiderman 2. Everyone has an arc, every motivation is clear, and each character is utilized to the best they can offer. The execution is unique, even to other superhero flicks. It's a more personal movie than someone trying to destroy the town, take over the city. And even then, we still get an symbiotic relationship between the city, and the guardian that protects it, when the subway train that Spiderman saves from death not only save him, but promise to keep his secret. In the Dark Knight, we get a cynical, noir-esque view of the good inside people. We still see people acting on good instinct when pushed to their limit, but we also see the antithesis in Harvey Dent. Going with the theme of "Chaos" in that movie, there is no real justice, no real vengeance, no real redemption, only what is. It's a mixed message we get at the end, where we're left to wonder if Gotham itself can still be saved. Tonally, this fits the Batman that most people know now (The Frank Miller post modern era of comics). Between a tragedy where all is lost or sacrificed for a semblance of hope, and a action/adventure film where the real villains, which are the temptations inside us to right wrongs in our own way, can be overcome in all of us...I'm going to go with the one that says all evil can be defeated, and that redemption can be found in us all. I'd say that's the heart of what a superhero story is about.

Every other Batman is weak, non imposing and always gets one upped by the lower class villains. Bale's first movie he is completely oblivious of Ra's Al Ghoul despite him being in front of him the whole time. Compare that to Batfleck who immediately has the every detail and even deduced the identity of Superman on first meeting. Batfleck even takes down and out an entire troop of Thugs on his own and his while Bale was struggling against Dogs. Give me one instance where Batman as a character is relevant for TDK

As far as superhero movies go, my vote goes for "Spiderman 2", which I believes captures the tone and point of superhero stories. While some can enjoy it as fun escapism, we feel the stakes in Spiderman 2. Everyone has an arc, every motivation is clear, and each character is utilized to the best they can offer. The execution is unique, even to other superhero flicks. It's a more personal movie than someone trying to destroy the town, take over the city. And even then, we still get an symbiotic relationship between the city, and the guardian that protects it, when the subway train that Spiderman saves from death not only save him, but promise to keep his secret. In the Dark Knight, we get a cynical, noir-esque view of the good inside people. We still see people acting on good instinct when pushed to their limit, but we also see the antithesis in Harvey Dent. Going with the theme of "Chaos" in that movie, there is no real justice, no real vengeance, no real redemption, only what is. It's a mixed message we get at the end, where we're left to wonder if Gotham itself can still be saved. Tonally, this fits the Batman that most people know now (The Frank Miller post modern era of comics). Between a tragedy where all is lost or sacrificed for a semblance of hope, and a action/adventure film where the real villains, which are the temptations inside us to right wrongs in our own way, can be overcome in all of us...I'm going to go with the one that says all evil can be defeated, and that redemption can be found in us all. I'd say that's the heart of what a superhero story is about.

Every character in the Dark knight had an arc. Batman was fighting the issue of retirement after Rachel’s death. Lucius fox was fighting the corruption of phones and how they can monitor civilians. Harvey Dent had an arc on fighting his depression and coming out with it in the worse way possible. The joker had an arc about how he wanted to show the world about how “civilized” would stoop to his level when the situations were dire (it’s about sending a message). Rachel had the arc about if she was ever going to leave Harvey for Bruce. Gordon had a subtle arc about making his family think he was killed by jokers goons to serve a higher purpose (a contrary foreshadowing to when Batman makes Gotham think he killed Harvey so that he could serve a higher purpose in death). The mob had its arc which tied into one of movies main themes (escalation). Even the cops of Gotham had a small arc with debating if Batman was the hero or the villain when it came to the “criminal” hostages. I could go on so I’ll only sum it up in three sentences. The Dark Knight is far more quotable than Spider-Man 2 and has a better written dynamic between the protagonist and the antagonist (the belief of anyone can be good vs the belief of “some men just wanna watch the world burn”). The realism in the Dark Knight makes it more compelling and relatable to modern times than the quirky (and lovable) escape from reality in Spider-Man 2. (I’m getting tired of typing) Finally, The Dark Knight follows Dan Harmons story structure (NOT a hero’s journey story structure) to write the film. Also, the dark knight was a film about Harvey Dent which was referenced throughout the film leading into the climax and in its own title “The Dark Knight”. Marvel and DC will never find another director as good as Christopher Nolan.

Great video. The only thing I really disagree with is the fact u said tobey is easily the worst Spider-Man. That couldn’t be further from the truth. Raimi’s Spider-Man is straight ripped out of the stan Lee and Steve ditko era and even the John romita sr era of comics. The only differences are very superficial: he quips a bit less, he has organic webshooters. Raimi’s Spider-Man captures the themes of Spider-Man and his character perfectly. His grief, his struggle with duality, responsibility, how being a hero can ruin someone’s life, choice, consequences. Tom Holland and mcu Spider-Man lack nearly all of those things or only get them on a very surface level understanding. His lack of independence and his lack of grief or even acknowledgement of uncle Ben is highly inaccurate to the character. It’s typical seen as a disgrace of an adaptation in the Spider-Man community.

Sorry, but despite that YES, McGuire is the best Spider-Man, in the 2nd movie he is mostly passive. He retires because he psicosomatically loose his powers, not because he chooses to, is only when he chooses to be a hero when he gets his powers back. Bruce Wayne is always making choices, and he fails, but keeps fighting despite everything. He aspires to create a city that doesn't need him so he can retire with Rachel, only to loose her, but keeps fighting and sacrifices his image and even his morals, everything to give Gotham the future he thinks it deserves. The 2 movies are about the cost of being a hero, but in this case (contrary to the comics) Batman pays a higher cost.

Looking back like this, The Dark Knight has a excelent villain, a good suporting cast, and a Batman. I really feel like this incarnation of Batman is a little bit Bland. Don't get me wrong, i absolutelly love TDK, but even Affleck's Batman has some depht, apart of "look, my parents are dead". The story is good, but the villain is what makes it shine. Spiderman has, indeed, a great villain, a good suporting cast and a great version of It's hero. Honestly, i prefer Tom Holland as Spiderman and Peter, but Tobey shines a lot with this movie. It's a story that really shows a more intimate side of the hero, rather than a unidimensional character (in their movies, not in comics) like... Well... Captain America, Superman, and Batman here. I love TDK, and personally, i prefer it instead of Spideman 2, but being honest, is not that much of a "EPIC PERFECT MASTERPIECE", as some people blindly try to sell you. But Spider-Man does and says there's a hero in everyone. The problem with TDK is that it only focuses on Joker and Batman (especially Joker), but Spider-Man 2 has a story arc for each and every character. Dr.Octopus, MJ, Peter Parker, JJ Jameson, Harry Osborne. With TDK it looks like Everyone is coming in the story of Batman. But in Spider-Man 2 it looks like Peter is coming in the story arcs of others. And they both have the famous dialogue, It's Pizza Time ( I will give your rent when you fix this damn door is my all time favourite and it was the only positive thing in Spider-Man 3) and Why So Serious. Both movies have their own glitches. In TDK, we just wait for Joker, and any scene without him is boring. And in Spider-Man 2 MJ was not even needed, I believe that without MJ Spider-Man 2 would have been much better.

There are two ways of explaining which is better. 1) Best superhero movie between the two 2) best movie between the two. For first one it's obvious that TDK is a supervillain movie and Christian bale as Batman was playing a supporting role but still Ledger won the The best supporting actor academy award. In my opinion, the best Batman movie from a superhero point of view is Batman (1989). Yeah it's a bit strange but Michael Keaton's first Batman movie seems better because it gives us the comic book feel and Idk why It's so much underrated in 21st century. And if we talk about Spider-Man 2, then it's a completely different light theme movie if we compare it to Guardians of the Galaxy or Iron Man. The best thing about Spider-Man 2 is its humour and everyone love it. One more thing about Spider-Man 2 is that it has the best superhero moment of all time, the train fight scene. Let's come to the second way. As just as a movie, I think TDK is better. It is different from its prequel and sequel. And the best part of this movie is every single scene of Joker. But it's also the negative point of it. Because the scenes without Joker are boring and Joker in a nurse dress was the only proper humour in it. Christopher Nolan did a great work, but TDK didn't felt like a superhero movie, atleast for me. The next villain who is equally Psycho and at the same time clever after Joker is Joker himself. If you loved TDK and Joker (2019), then please watch Venom: Let there be Carnage. You may say that why I am comparing This with TDK, then answer would be that it's the only dark movie of Marvel in 2021 and the plot of Carnage is too dark and horrifying because he killed his grandmother, wanted to kill his mom and even wanted to kill his girlfriend because he does whatever comes to his mind.

Joker is the main antagonist and harvey is a side character/secondary antagonist. That doesn't diminish there value in the movie its just what they call it. And I was refering to the themes of tdk so idk why u commenting abt batman not being the main character.

When it comes down to it Spider-Man 2 has a simpler story which works well for it. It displays the struggle for Peter’s life but in all honesty Peter doesn’t change by the end of the movie. He learns but does not dramatically change from this. Rachel’s death in the dark knight, the tragic change of Harvey Dent, and Joker’s eventually victory over the way Bruce had thought the world was gave TDK a much more complex story. Even the greatest of writers can find imagery, complexity, and parallels in the chemistry between Batman’s “Justice” beliefs and Joker’s “anarchy” beliefs. The truth is Spider-Man 2 is simply a great super hero movie, and the Dark Knight is just a great movie with a super hero in it. It’s hard to compare the two but I wouldn’t say Spider-Man has a better story, just a better superhero story. EDIT: I love the literal shit out of both of these movies. I’m glad this video was made.
