Something I really like is that the hero and villain are being created simultaneously but separately. Not the hero accidentally creating the villain or the villain accidentally creating the hero. The only coincidence is that it is happening at the same time, which adds a very subtle layer for the audience to think about if it is fate intervening or it was all by chance.

I remember Raimi made it a point to always have Peter get beat the hell up because audiences loved it; they loved when he was able to come back from it. What a total classic. Still the best interpretation of Spidey onscreen, and one that makes him a truly loveable uncool dork, which is what Peter always was. Also: Elfman’s theme is still top tier.

There's one thing Harry didn't hear when Norman was talking to Peter at the graduation: Norman is caring and supportive to Peter BECAUSE of Harry. 17:45 I believe Sam Raimi once said something along the lines that while he was able to accept that Peter Parker is smart enough to make web shooters, he had a harder time accepting that this Peter Parker had the resources to make them, as he's a kid in high school with no job. I think May and Ben even have a small scene where they're talking about how things might be financially tough for a bit. I really like when Spider-Man makes his web fluid (don't really know why tbh) but I actually really appreciate the level of thought that they put into the world building with thought processes like that.

I was born in 2000s, so I grew up with a Tobey Maguire Spider-Man-themed bedroom, watching these films religiously and playing the tie-in video games that expanded on their stories. For example, the Spider-Man (2002) game followed the events of the film featuring the Green Goblin but also included additional villains like Shocker, Vulture, and Scorpion to add more content to the game. You could also unlock the Alex Ross Spider-Man and Green Gobin designs that were never used in the film but he designed as idea's for the suits. Though his Spider-Man suit design for the film would later inspire Superior Spider-Man in the comics. Spider-Man 2 (2004) also had an amazing tie-in game that introduced some of the best web-swinging mechanics in gaming history, which have since served as inspiration for every Spider-Man game that followed including the amazing Marvel's Spider-Man PlayStation games. In previous games, the web-swinging felt more like flying, as the webs would just attach to the sky. However, Spider-Man 2 introduced actual physics to the swinging, with webs attaching to the nearest object, allowing you to swing and release whenever you wanted. If there was nothing to swing from, you'd simply fall until you found something to attach to, creating a much more dynamic and realistic experience.

The problem with The Amazing Spider-Man 1 and 2 along with Homecoming and Far From Home is they just didn't had the heart like Sam Reimi's Spider-Man movies had. Don't get me wrong they are still good Spider-Man movies but it felt more like the CGI had the upper hand while Sam Reimi's Spider-Man movies had everything you wanted in a good movie balanced well together, story, character development, difficult choices, action and drama. Even with Spider-Man 3 when Sony intervened with Sam Reimi's directing, you could still feel it. Great reaction. Raimi Spider-Man movies were a big part of my childhood, I remember being in the second grade and being fascinated with Willem's interpretation of the Goblin.

This film is the first successful live action depiction of Spider-Man. Hollywood tried a live action show in the ‘70’s but the practical effects weren’t enough to truly bring this iconic hero to life. Patience paid off. All the elements that were needed, finally became available to do it right. The success of these elements bringing a comic book hero to life paved the way for more heroes to finally live. Always fun watching your videos. ✌️😉💕

Oh no....Spider man is far stronger than Goblin. He just pulls his punches. Once upon a time he stopped pulling them and, the enemies started going away.

"I was probably four or five years when this dropped" *Proceeds to poof into dust* Joking aside, I was around 8 or 9 when it released in theaters. I was with my mom and older brother, and it got me into Superhero movies. Tobey was, and still is, my Spiderman. Might've been my introduction to Willem Defoe as well, and because of it anytime I see his name in a film, I'm instantly sold.

The direct mirroring of Norman telling Peter “thank God for you” while being deceived, then having to hear it from Harry, the man he’s now having to deceive. So great.

My 9yo son has been playing a lot of Spider-Man 2 on the PlayStation. I showed him that movie just last week because in my opinion that’s the movie that feels the most like the game. The swinging, the fights, it’s my favorite Spider-Man movie series.

Yes!!! One of my absolute favorite reactor couples watching one of my absolute favorite movies!! 😊 I am a MASSIVE Spider-Man fan; my first comic book at age seven was Amazing Spider-Man #96, featuring the long-awaited return of the Green Goblin!! I've been obsessed ever since, and you can't understand how completely amped I was while waiting for this movie to come out. (I saw it three times opening day, and 14 times total in the theaters.) This movie absolutely stands the test of time, and I get chills every time I hear that completely iconic Danny Elfman score. First movie to ever top $100 million on opening weekend! Also, J.K. Simmons as Jameson is literally one of the best casting choices EVER! Love your reactions as always!! ❤

Thanks for letting us know you guys watched this movie before unlike a bunch of other reactors who would've lied and pretended it was their first time watching then make some subtle or not so subtle comments that make it seem like they watched the show/movie before
@Gojeto3468 күн бұрын
Green Goblin is a terrifying villain tbh he’s like the joker in how he just revels in what evil deeds he’s doing, Willem Dafoe was genuinely the perfect casting for this role and I’m so glad he at least got to come back one more time

I think you nailed it when you said that he is such a relatable character that is the appeal of Spider-Man that's why he's so beloved.

Watching this movie as a kid I never batted an eye but watching it as an adult it affects me way more emotionally, crazy how life experience changes your understanding and perspective on things. Really hoping you two do the other two of the trilogy, I know 3 gets a lot of flack but there's a lot of good stuff even in 3 and its definitely worth revisiting.

All through my childhood, like most, I adored Spider-Man. I grew up in a country where comic books were incredibly rare. But I had a vhs tape of the first season of the animated series. I watched it a hundred times. The movie came out when I was 11 years old. It was such a blessing. When, after the theater I walked home, I felt a slight emptiness because I didn't even know what else I could want, I was so happy to see that movie. Toby is forever the best spider man for me.

KZbin notifications slacking, really thought they could hide that y'all were coming back on my feed with another banger after banger! The early 2000s really were an awesome time for movies, dead ass think this was one of the first movies I saw in theaters as a kid too. I still remember Willem's performance as the goblin actually scared me as a kid, dude was putting that theatre experience to work hamming it the fuck up!

If you two see this, I would love you see the other Spiderman movies with Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland!! No way Home next to Spiderman Into the Spider-Verse are the best Spiderman movies!
