I love these commentaries cap. I feel like I'm hanging out with my friends and were talking about what we love,what we hate, and what we know from the source material while we're either hating or loving the movie were watching. Can't wait for the next commentary!

So Cap can't accept that Tobey's Peter "killed" Sandman but they're perfectly okay when Peter and Gwen killed Electro in TASM 2, that's the definition of hypocrisy

SLPIFan Sandman wasn't an innocent guy in Peter's eyes whereas Electro is shown as extremely sympathetic especially because of his obsession with Peter and he didn't give a shit. Cap SHOULD have referenced that.

SLPIFan The first encounter is one thing, he didn't try to do it the second time and he clearly didn't care. He laughed at him instead of trying to understand him. Apart from how horribly written the movie is even though Electro is a horrible character, from Peter's perspective he could have tried to talk to him so he could stop.

I also don't like that they (Cap and Dan) criticize a lot of things in this film for being here "just for fan service" (Gwen Stacy, Venom, Black costume, etc.), and while they are admittedly here just for that, when we get to the ASM films, both Cap and Dan seem to praise those films for the same reasons. Dan says he likes Andrew better, but I would bet a hundred bucks that it's just because he jokes and he is slightly more proactive (although the point of the first two Raimi films was actually to get him to the point where he was proactive). I like Dan, he's fun and often knowledgeable, and it I knew him I'd probably at least try to befriend him, but being a big Spidey fan myself, I think he judges these films way too much on what they are on the surface and what he wishes they were. I think Cap can be really insightful, funny, random and (also) knowledgeable, but while I agree with most of what he says about X-Men movies, Dark Knight movies, and a few others, he's just not that good when reviewing Spider-Man films. I still think Spider-Man 2 was robbed off of a 4 out of 4 in Superhero Rewind.

Judging by the novelization the third film takes place just a few months after the second so Peter planning to propose to MJ already is pretty darn fast.

Cap I believe there was a moment in the "Spider-Man 2" montage where amongst all the things Peter got to do since he'd given up being Spider-Man, one of them was repairing his bike...including the gag where the wheel shoots out the window.

I'm still convinced there is a lot from this movie that had to be cut because this movie was one of the 1st I started fallowing productions of online listening to every detailed released during its making and I still recall stills and onset images of things that never made it into the theatrical cut and the DVD of the movie I got doesn't have any mentions of them or deleted scenes featuring this. One being a scene with Sandman and his daughter being surrounded by police!

The Stan Lee bio topic is a great idea! It can present the origins of marvel comics. Heck, it doesn't even have to focus in Stan lee entirely. It could be about the trifecta: Stan lee, Steve Ditko and Jack Kirby!

Hated it when they made Sandman responsible for Uncle Ben's death. Completely took away Peter's reason for being Spoder-man. Loving these commentaries.

Oh, definitely Dark Knight for me, too. I may not have liked Rises as much as most, but it was a much better third effort than other superhero franchises, and it has the most consistent tone throughout since it's the same director and crew creating the whole thing. -CL

I believe in the original script of the movie, Sandman teams up with Venom because Venom threatens Sandman with killing his daughter or something with her daughter at the beach. They did something similar to that in the movie game too. And they did originally have the original symbiote costume with the white symbol for Spider-Man but for whatever reason they changed it. I personally liked it :/

Actually I think you CAN argue that Peter provoked Gwen kissing him. Yeah the crowd was egging them on, but Peter was the one that was like "Lay one on me, they'll love it!"

Despite all of this film's flaws. I enjoyed and liked the movie, for personal reasons, and I like the idea of light versus dark. So, Spider-Man 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man are my favorite spider-man films. Oh, and Venom is one of my favorite Spider-Man villains, so seeing him on the big screen was a big treat. He could of been done better, but still. Great commentary Captain Logan. I look forward to the Amazing Spider-Man commentary. The Lizard is one of my favorite villains as well.

The conceit with the black suit I always thought would look good and make this films suit better was done in spectacular spider man,at first the suit is black with webbing, but the longer he wears it the suit becomes more like the comic design minus the webbing

I don't think Peter thought he did kill Harry. He took a pumpkin to the face in the first one which didn't kill him(Harry has powers too at this point) and he still went to ask Harry for help after he got the suit off. Why would he do that if he thought Harry was dead? He just liked the idea of beating the crap out of him.

with venom. when i heard about Venom being in Spider-Man 3 back in 2006. i was 10 at the time. at the time i knew that Venom was going to be at the end of the film. be the big end of the film superhero battle. due to the fact that you got two another villens. but i have no idea that he was going to be have like 10 mins of screen time. also i always picture that Vonom is the symbiote. so we are looking at around 45 mins of screen time. oh when is the dark knight commentary podcast coming up

This commentary is bullshit. Just because a movies is "bad" doesn't mean you have to bash every single aspect of the film, there are a lot of good parts in this movie but just because its considered bad they just have to find a way to discredit those good parts in this movie. I got tired of Cap. complaining about MJ not telling Peter what happened but SHE NEVER EVEN HAD A CHANCE TO TELL HIM! The first time they talkg after the play she's mad at her reviews and she hasn't been fired yet. Then when he seems him again its when they give him the key of the city and she wasn't gonna ruin his moment in a moment like that right? Then the next scene is the dinner but she's mad for the kiss so I don't know why so much whining about her character when her not telling him about the play makes sense! I wouldn't mind the nippicking here but you don't do it with other movies, Is there a complaint about the scene in TDK when the bomb in the police station kills everyong but the Joker and the chinese guy? or when Batman survives that fall?

You guys say SM2 has been eclisped many times since Ebert's review. Imho the only superhero movies that are better than SM2 seen 2004 are TDK, TDKR and that's it. I prefer SM2 to X2, X:FC, Batman Begins and IM.

At minute 30, you guys joke about Peter's problem being wiped away with a huge coincidence, which it is but you say that Peter is out of character by being ok with it because he's not taking responsibility for it. But I think that that isn't his to take responsibility for. Norman killed himself. Not Peter. If your problem is that he's not taking responsibility for his actions, your problem should be for part2 for lying, not this film.
