Spider-Man 3 is a great movie

It’s very interesting how people’s opinions on this film changed over the last 15 yrs, it went from being hated to now being respected. Of course, emo Peter Parker played a part in why people loved/hated this flick, but I’ve always been someone who liked the movie but at the same time felt a little bit letdown by it. Despite that, this movie is very nostalgic and it has a lot of good things about it and my guess as to why people hated it is because they were expecting a darker, more serious movie that dives into Peter Parker’s battle with his inner demons but instead got a movie that has some of that, but a lot of goofy and silly moments that’ll forever be memed and referenced, and let’s not forget, Sony did interfere with Sam Rami’s vision by cramming Venom into it, which of course Sam Rami didn’t like.

Spider-Man 3 is my least favorite of the Raimi Trilogy, but it’s such a fun movie for me. I still love the action sequences, most of the acting, Sandman as a character, Raimi’s charm, third act, the score, the themes and messages, and the emotional moments work really well. The cringeworthy moments with Bully Maguire are actually pretty funny to me to be honest. However, I felt like Harry’s story felt rushed, the VFX was a hit or miss, it’s too crowded, Venom was the weakest villain in the film, I didn’t like how it retcons Uncle Ben’s death in SM1, Mary Jane was pretty unbearable, and the studio interference hurt the movie from being what Raimi wanted it to be. Even though it’s not as good as the first 2 movies, but it also had a nice conclusion to the Trilogy.

Spider man 3 is honestly not that bad, I remember watching it as an 8 yr old on DVD and I thought it was pretty awesome seeing new villains, black suit spider man, incredible action, many of the character and storylines conclude, and overall it was a pretty good conclusion of the trilogy. Yes it isn’t perfect, given that Sony interfered with what Sam rami wanted, it shows that the movie is bogged down with too many characters, too many storylines and a conflicting tone, plus Emo Peter Parker is the most memorable and memed thing in this entire movie for both good and bad reasons. Overall, it’s not the abomination that people in 2007 said it was, it’s a flawed yet solid entry that neatly wrapped the Sam Rami trilogy despite being the weakest of the trilogy.

I actually like this movie. Sure, Venom drags the movie down. But Sandman and Harry were well developed villains. It also still feels like a Spider-Man movie and I liked the character interactions. Everything I remember that was bad about it (humor, mishandled Venom) was still bad, but the relationship drama hit me harder than it did the first time. If I where to rewrite this film here’s what I would do, the beginning is the same except the first fight with Harry ends with Gwen Stacy getting in the way and meeting her demise, and this makes Eddy hate Spider-Man. The middle act is the same except without the infamous dance sequence and instead of the mansion fight Harry teams up with Sandman and he says he’ll give him the money if he kills Spider-Man with him. Then the finale ends with Peter with the symbiote suit on killing Harry with his glider and washing Sandman away. Then Peter realizes what he’s done and tells Harry the truth about him and his father and Harry dies happy. Peter confronts Sandman and the same scene plays out, and then the bell scene happens at the end of the film and it leaves a cliffhanger of venom in Spider-Man 4, this would give Peter his moment of realization, and this would make people excited for Spider-Man 4, the studio would be happy, Sam Raimi would be happy, and fans would make Spider-Man 4 the Endgame of this series

To comment on the Sandman arc. I think he believed that by killing Spider-Man in the 3rd act, nobody else was capable of stopping him from robbing banks/stealing money in order to get the medicine his daughter needed hence why he reluctantly teamed up with Venom.

I rewatched the 3 films this week and I still think it’s the best one idk 😂sure it’s got some corny moments but they have become iconic at this point. I loved all the different story lines and I think it was a good ending for the trilogy. Watching the three films again made me realize why I like them much more than the mcu Spider-Man movies. In the originals, u actually care about the main characters and feel connected to them. In the mcu Spider-Man movies, the characters are fine and the movies are entertaining good stories, but I don’t feel as connected to the characters. Probs my most unpopular opinion is that this is my favourite Spider-Man film. I couldn’t find it more enjoyable. Love all the character development, regardless of the ridiculousness of the storyline and plot holes. The action, especially the final act and train scene are incredible and the Bully Maguire scenes are some of the most fun scenes I’ve seen in any superhero films. I do get why it’s so hated, but if you just take it at face value, as a campy, over the top superhero film, (which is what the first two were) it’s so easy to love. Raimi understood these characters so well, and while he doesn’t like this, it’s not something to be ashamed of. I think it’s a great conclusion to the trilogy in terms of how it ends the characters, and probably every scene has something great about it. Love it so much, and the black Spider-Man suit was so cool.

As flawed as it is (and it is VERY flawed), the good outweighs the bad for me. Personally, I think the movie's biggest issue isn't Venom, but it's how Harry's amnesia plotline was handled. It felt like it was ripped from a cheesy soap opera, and why didn't his butler tell him the truth sooner?! That being said, the ending of this movie is moving, in my opinion. Harry and Peter forgiving each other (which is more touching when u realize Harry never learned Peter was under the symbiote influence), and Peter slow dancing with MJ. It's not a triumphant ending, but it's an emotional one- something we don't see a lot of in superhero movies

An emotional conclusion to my favorite movie trilogy that makes up for its "dancing and not acceptable Venom" moments with powerful performances and action set pieces along with nostalgia and IMO it's better than SP2, also I don't hate anything about the movie, the explanation for how Venom looks is because Sam Raimi did horror, so this version of Venom is suitable

As I’ve gotten older I’ve obviously understood that it has major issues, and is the weakest Raimi Spider-Man film, but it’s still so enjoyable. It has excellent visuals, some great character moments, but couldn’t tell the entire story it tried to tell and it also had pretty bad character moments too and it ended up being impossible to make work. Venom just wasn’t good, simply put. But the black suit and Venom LOOK great to this day. It just wasn’t executed well. Personally, even tho it’s clearly flawed and not as good as the other Raimi films, I personally have a big soft spot for this film. Sand man is possibly one of the most compelling Spider-Man villains ever put to screen. I actually genuinely think Venom could’ve worked in here far better if 1.) they had a different Eddie Brock, cus no disrespect to him, but Topher Grace is such a miscast as it’s supposed to be a character that’s intimidating from his size and stature which he simply just doesn’t have, 2.) if they made the black suit arc be more serious. It was serious at some points, but come on, we all know the memes that came from this because of how silly he could be (but then again, Bully Maguire is probably my favorite meme of all time lol). And 3.), how does he just meet up with Sand Man once and they’re out of nowhere just on the same page as each other? There’s quite a few other flaws with this film, but those are my main nitpicks. However, I still really enjoy it for the action, especially the finale as it’s probably my favorite final battle of the franchise. I’d probably say it’s like a B- for me, definitely flawed, but enjoyable enough for me as well as nostalgic. (And imo I’d much rather watch this over Amazing Spider-Man 2)

Honestly I feel like Topher Grace was a perfect fit for the angle they were going for. He is a dark reflection of Peter. He is what Peter would have been if he had all the power with no responsibility. Though this is my least favorite Spider-Man movie, I think the ideas for it work. I think the Harry plot line is great that leads into the end with his sacrifice and it feels earned. But Venom feels shoehorned in that it makes no sense how he and Sandman have a minute long conversation to team up and kill Spider-Man. I don’t think it’s awful, it just feels cramped. But this movie did give us Bully Maguire.

This film would have been so much better if they just had Harry become Venom and didn’t have Sadman. Whilst I liked his arc in the film I think he felt a bit in the way sometimes even though he was a good character (I didn’t even mind that he killed uncle Ben) Another thing I wish they did was have Aunt May know he was Spider-Man. It was teased in Spider-Man 2 and not mentioned at all in Spider-Man 3. I think her “knowing for awhile” and that “I knew you were Spider-Man as soon as you told me you let Ben be killed” would have been perfect because she knows he’s doing this to try and forgive himself for his biggest mistake.

FINALLY someone not praising Spider-Man 3! I remember the hate it got back then but now people are praising it like hell calling it an underrated masterpiece and some even say it's the best in the Raimi trilogy. I try to give Spider-Man 3 a chance but it's just so boring and frustrating. I really don't get the love for this movie.

I think the Lizard would have been great as a villain for 4 because Peter's experience with the symbiote addiction would be useful helping Dr.Conners , plus they both can work at Oscorp with Peter as the head scientist making projects to help people to honour Harry .

I guess I am one of the few people who actually like this movie quite a bit. I agree that Sandman didn't need to be in it and probably would have been better if he was cut to spend more time in other plots, but I still liked the movie quite a bit and thought it was a lot of fun.

It's goofy, it's overcrowded, it's laughable at points, but I do not care because I love Spider-Man 3. Yeah, Venom sucks, the thing with the butler having known how Norman died is extraordinarily lame, and it jumps around quite a bit, I think the character dynamics and story are still very, very good, especially What they do with Harry, even though he should've gotten more screen time as the villain. As for Sandman, he's not really that fun, but he's a good enough antagonist and I actually kind of like how they had him be involved in Uncle Ben's death. Not to mention, Bad Peter(as the scene selection on the DVD copy calls him) is legendarily hilarious. Everything about him is funny.

Sam Raimi didn’t want to include the black suit Spiderman. He just wanted to have Sandman as the only villain. And I honestly can’t see how that’s better. For me the best part about this movie was Peter having a dark side with the black suit and going out of control. Sandman was the least interesting character for me and couldn’t care for him.

It just reminds me how much I hate the Sony owns the rights to Spider-Man. They forced Sam Raimi to include venom and go a direction he didn’t want, and they did the same thing to Mark Webb for the amazing Spider-Man movies. I can’t stand the amazing Spider-Man movies but I wish I did because I think Andrew Garfield would have been a, truly, amazing Spider-Man with better writing and storytelling. I just hate when studios won’t let directors execute their visions.

I found appreciation for Spider-Man 3, it’s not a great movie buts it’s definitely not bad. The only real problem I had with it was timing and development, I really liked almost everything about this movie but it didn’t have enough time to fully develop the characters, Sandman I really liked, I didn’t mind that he was the real killer, I just wish he had more screen time. Harry even though he isn’t the villain we were hoping for, In the end, he doesn’t give in to his goblin side like Norman did, Norman tried to kill Peter with the glider while Harry tried to save Peter from the glider. Topher as Eddie again I really liked, his character is Peter without morals, then him as venom, I will say he’s the weakest villain in the whole series unfortunately but the best part about him is that Venom is what Peter could have became. Then Peter I think was the best part about the movie, he’s the opposite of the last 2 movies, he’s finally happy and it gives him a cocky attitude, then when Harry and Sandman interfere with his happy life, he uses the symbiote as a crutch for revenge but also keeping his life happy until Peter hits Mary Jane, where he realizes the problems he’s done and in the end has to face the problems he created. Again flawed for sure but for what it was, it’s not a bad movie, it was a movie that I think the flaws gave us great things out of those flaws.

Honestly, I used to like this movie a lot when it first came out, but over the years, I haven't liked it as much. My issue with the film is Venom, they messed him up, he is not supposed to be whiny, and the way he looks is so cheesy. I felt like Topher Grace is miscast as Venom, he is supposed to be buff, like the comics, and what I liked about the newer Venom films is that he looks comic book accurate, and Tom Hardy is a better actor to portray the character. I didn't mind with the all of the villains' being introduced in the film, but the overall execution of the story is so convoluted. I don't like the dancing sequence in the film though, but that has become a meme now, and I wished that scene should have not been in the film though. I've seen this film so many times, and I still prefer the first two movies way better.

Sean, I understand that you aren't a big fan of Spider-Man 3 like other fans of the franchise but i love this movie, i get your points, i hate the fact that Danny didn't come back but the reason why Danny didn't come back is because he and Sam clashed during the making of Spidey 2, the conversation's that they were having was Sam wanted the score to be like Hellraiser and after awhile Danny had enough and said if you want the music to be like Hellraiser go hire the guy that did Hellraiser, he left before he could finish the score(They didn't work again until Oz the great and powerful,2013) , So Sam hired Christopher Young to do the score for 3 but he was also having a tough time doing that. I like sandman in the movie, i think Thomas Haden Church did something different to the character that was different from the comics but and it worked but the recon that he murdered Uncle ben, there are days that i think it worked and there are days i think it didn't. The part were Harry gets Anusha is kinda bonkers, they could of did something else with him to be out of the picture for awhile and lastly this might be a unpopular opinion but i like Topher Grace as Eddie Brock but not as Venom, Topher does something different with Eddie, the look of Venom looks amazing but when he was Venom, him doing the line delivery as Venom did not work at all it would of been voice if they brought in a voice actor in to be Venom(They should of asked Hank Azaria from the 90's cartoon to do it...Lol) So that's all i have to say about that, This might be a little late but congrats on getting over 200 thousand subscribers, i'm happy that you are still pumping out great content and one of the greats like Chris Stuckman on this platform, i'm hoping we can met up one day and just talk about movies and our interests as nerds...God bless you

I think the emo Tobey stuff was meant to be embarrassing and uncomfortable. It's a ham-handed trick, but I think Raimi intended those scenes to play out exactly as they did, and wanted the audience to feel about them exactly as they had. Make all of this stuff awkward, unintentionally funny, cringy, and uncomfortable, so when it changes back to what people do want to see, there's the sense of relief enthusiasm. Again, it's ham-handed (and Raimi usually does that well), but it didn't pay off like it should have. It was a tad too much, and Raimi lost a lot of the audience because of it. I personally enjoyed it, because I'm a comic reader from the 70's on up, and am completely familiar and comfortable with camp in comics. Not to mention growing up on the 60's Batman reruns. But honestly, I would have enjoyed it more if it was executed better. It played out like a 90's comic book arc, just not a great one.
