Meanwhile, the PC version of Spider-Man 2 is one of the worst Spider-Man games ever made. It's childishly simple, there are no open world sections and it holds your hand the entire time, to the point where it even gives you instructions on how to beat the boss before every fight.

Ever since the release of Spider-Man 2 on PS2/Xbox/GameCube, I'm surprised they never released a Spider-Man game since then with an open city with similar web-swinging mechanics and tony-hawk style tricks. The game feels amazing to just go swinging around the city and explore even without advancing the story or doing missions.

The PS1 Spider-Man game is still the best Spidey game to ever come out imo. It knew its comic book source, but put its own twist on things, kinda like the Arkham series did with Batman over a decade later. The game just got everything right about Spider-Man, and while they couldn't do open-world webswinging at that point yet, they still included a lot of webswinging on rooftops as much as they could. I loved the Spider-Man 2 movie game as a kid, and the webswinging around town is still amazing in that game, but honestly looking back on its other elements, it's not THAT great. The new Spider-Man game looks like it has a chance to be the best Spidey game yet. Only thing so far that doesn't look excellent about it is that awful white spider symbol on the suit.

After getting 100% on Spiderman 2 I still spent hours just swinging around town. Jumping off the needle of the Empire State Building and doing a last second swing before touching the ground would launch you across the island. Dragging a villain up there and pile driving them all the way to the ground was effective in ending a fight like a boss. It was so entertaining, and that stupid freedom of controls is what's missing from most modern games.

To be honest, I actually play it on my wii in 2017. Like, my Dad downloaded it on homebrew and there are no glitches so far. I also bought the game on my PS2 and same thing as the wii. But that's nothing compared to Spider-Man 2 on my PS2. That is legendary!

I have the Spider-Man game on the Playstation from 2000, the one from the 2002 movie, Ultimate Spider-Man from the PS2 and Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions and he also appears in my copy of Marvel vs Capcom 3 (which are both on the PS3). I'm a huge Spider-Man fan !!

I actually enjoyed the ASM2 game. Story wise, it was pretty interesting since only a small part of it followed the movie. And it had one of biggest costume collections I've ever seen in a Spider-Man game.

Michael Braumann It's definitely a great game. I also liked the hint markers, hearing Bruce Campbell's voice was a treat. Especially that one hint marker that said something along the lines of, 'If you find all these markers, I'll say something different every time.' Then he proceeds to say 'something different' in different tones xD
