You guys should give this one another shot. You missed many of the cool features like power hits for consecutive punches landed, throwing dumpsters, running, double smashes, and using the hero cards to summon other super heros. You do get extra lives and continues later on. The only better bet em up on the SNES to this is Turtles in Time.

Final fight 3... The icons were cool, while they trivialize boss fights. The special moves in Final fight 3 are more graphically appealing, and require inputs instead of just building the bar. The double web smash spider man does is pretty cool though. We all love what we love but I can't help but disagree.

yes michael! you can even travel to space after collecting secret relics thruout. It then leads you to a special boss stage in space in which all the avengers and bosses show up and all chaos breaks loose!

Personally I think James and Mike didn't give this game enough credit. They didn't say it was shit, but it also wasn't good. I think it is good but with a few flaws. At the time, this was the best Spiderman game out there. Great music, good control, and simple fun gameplay. I say check it out. But that's my opinion.

The game is not average. Is a very challenging beat 'em up. I love James and Mike but they can't keep punching the shit out of enemies for an entire run without attempting any other move and then say it's not that good. Despite being an LJN game, Maximum Carnage is one of my favourite games of all time. You guys should give it another try ;)

I have to agree. This game is very good, especially if you know what you're doing. They didn't explore the levels at all and find any of the bonuses or continues. They just wanted it to be another Streets of Rage clone, but its actually a lot more than that.

There is a two-player sequel game to this, called Venom Spider-Man Separation Anxiety. The multiplayer is the only good thing about over Maximum Carnage, as the graphics aren't as good, and the story not that appealing.

The end levels aren't so tough if you managed to pick up the secret extra lives throughout the game and learned how to stun-lock the various boss characters. Carnage in particular is a piece of cake once you've figure out his pattern and how to stun-lock him.

Carnage at the end was a problem for me. I could never find a decent strategy, so I would just stay on the ground, sprint to the opposite side, sprint back and try to time a jump kick which usually hit, but did very little damage. I beat it in time, but damn!
