At one point, Scarlet Witch had a bunch of heros read stories of twisted versions of themselves to make their minds more resistant to the Darkholds corrupting insanity, and Spider Man read a story of a universe where Chthon cast a spell called The Unraveling on it. On the bright side, the spell specifically makes everything fall apart while retaining conciousness, so after being Reed-Webbed, everything really is alright. On the bad side, even Reed wasnt invincible and began to deteriorate after a while, and because of how powerful the magic was, there was no chance of reversing the spell

He's not "survive" either. The unraveling also affect him. See, the unraveling isn't just make people and building "unravelled" but keep them in a loop of same action over and over again. This Peter is already affected by it the most. He's gone crazy and stuck in a loop where everyday is his anniversary and he must get the vinegar. Except that Gwen is already long gone and have become a skeleton.

Honestly, I think this is a pretty interesting dark take on Spider-Man. He’s still in character, but it’s clear that the stress put on him drove Peter to insanity. His city was falling apart and the only thing holding it together was his web fluid. Those will dissolve after a few hours, so for the last few weeks, Peter hasn’t gotten any decent sleep and I’m constantly dealing with the horrors that come with his new found responsibilities. And on top of all of that his wife is dead. Eventually Peter’s grip on reality and decency broke

bruh, 85% of this video was wrong, venom didn't kill eddie, eddie was also falling apart from the unraveling and venom was just barely keeping eddie together, venom didn't go with parker because he didn't want to leave his home and more importantly his friend. heck parker isn't even the one who suggested capturing venom, nor did he ask for the sonic gun, that was all reed trying to sacrifice venom and others with stretchy powers to save himself. also the unraveling didn't cause zombies nor was it a virus, it was a universe wide phenomena that destableized everything atomic structure. the "zombies" were just people whos mind had unravelled. seriously this comic deserves more than to be rewritten into f tier fan fic

One scene I feel in this comic no one talks about is how Dr. Octopus asks Spider-Man not to laugh and Spider-Man promises that he won’t. It’s heartwarming and heart wrenching because it shows how kind he and that Dr. Otto doesn’t know what else to do with his life that even while everything’s unraveling his only purpose is to fight Spider-Man. As I said, both Heart Warming and Wrenching.

JESUS CHRIST. This is pretty dark when you think about it. Not only is peter close friends with reed but peter wants to make sure that reed stays there forever to keep the city together. So that means reed is left in pain for eternity. How long until the superhero community. (If they even care about the unravelling) find out that it's reed that's keeping the city together. How long until the fantastic four (most importantly sue and johnny) figure it out. Peter is johnny's closest friend and sue is literally reed's husband. It just shows what spider man could do to Mr Fantastic if he was that driven.

If you skip to 2:27, you also see Reed lamenting the "death" of the Fantastic Four, stating he would have done anything to keep them alive and that they were all that was holding him together. The vast majority of the superpowered community has therefore liken fallen apart, both physically and mentally, in this universe, such as Doctor Octopus - whose partially still functioning due to Spider-Man's assistance - and the rest of the Fantastic Four, save for a few exceptions such as the Venom Symbiote who Reed implies is one of the few out there to have a molecular structure similar to his own which is why he sends Spider-Man after him to make the special enzyme that Spider-Man eventually ends up using Reed to develop.

@@JayJayM57 It was the Darkhold but Reed's disregard for Spider-Man's continued concern for Gwen, him spending most time as disembodied goop - seemingly losing his humanity in the process - while Peter complains about having become underweight and perpetually exhausted trying to seal the city back together everyday, and the final interaction that Spider-Man has with the Venom symbiote, who turns out to be much more human and sympathetic in its feelings and motivations which makes Reed's plan to use the Venom symbiote as a means of crafting the enzyme just as morally dubious - if not more so - when compared to Spider-Man's final choice to use Reed instead, collectively contributed to Spider-Man growing increasingly frustrated and eventually turning on Reed over the course of this sidestory. You can also look at their second to last interaction, when Reed opens up about how the Fantastic Four, who are essentially dead, were the only thing holding him together and apologizing for not sympathizing with Spider-Man's concern for Gwen in the past, not realizing he had just lost her, as buildup up to Spider-Man betraying him to use as the Enzyme having just lost Gwen, likely the only thing holding him together and preventing him from resorting to such a morally dubious decision, minutes prior.

I know it's also in the mainstream comic stories as well, but the Venom synbiote genuinely loving Eddie here ("he was not my host, he was my home") is one of those things that, as a 90s kid growing up to see multiple malevolent media depictions of Venom, still gets to me right in the heart.
