Holy crap it's hard not to set high expectations, this movie has the potential to be one of, if not the greatest comic book movie of all time! Doc Ock doesn't appear in the final fight or later scenes because he willingly chooses to let strange send him back to his universe to die on his own terms. This is why Peter then attempts to save the villains, refusing to kill.

The FX artists don't erase images for trailers. They just don't render the layers with those images on them. So, distortion you see isn't going to be from poorly erasing something. Although it may be a layer with motion blur, for example, accidentally left behind.
