@Jim Harol I don't think it will take the developers as long as previous generations, seeing as these consoles have become more like a modern PC. I think if anything the fact these consoles are the way they are means better optimised games, unless they get lazy or don't have the time. Playing Killzone Shadow Fall at 60fps feels like playing a different game altogether.

@@Mike77x77 Yeah the expectation everybody had for this gen at least in the beginning was 4K30 RT, or 4K60/1440p60 dynamic without RT, if they can add a third mode with 60FPS and RT even at 1080p this would be a good third setting and it would be perfect for people still using 1080p TV's. I tried Performance RT on Morales but I actually still preferred Fidelity mode even though it's capped at 30... The motion blur in the game is great... On the other hand though Demon's Souls Remaster I felt like the 30 FPS mode was unplayable and jarring so I stuck to 60 mode.

@@brandonlee7382 seriously can't tell the difference. Playing the first remastered on my PS5, I can see every spec and detail on Spidey's suit in Performance RT mode. If you told me it was native 4K I would believe you. It's definitely close enough, the ray tracing is worth the dynamic res.

The Spiderman Remaster and Miles Morales games are some of the best looking games I've played. RT makes it just a cut above and really makes it stand out vs the original. Not sure how they pulled off such a sharp image not being 4K but I can't tell as it looks amazing and clean on my TV. Kudos to the entire Insomniac team!

Ray Tracing reflections at 60 fps on a console. Man, that's really impressive, even more considering that high end PCs struggle to achieve that. Even if it's at a lower resolution and the reflections are not ultra sharp the visual effect is gorgeous and adds so much more depth to the gameplay. Insomniac proving this is possible gets me more excited about this gen.

Good luck, but i can tell you, you wont be disappointed. Ps5 is amazing console, The first time you take dualsense in your hand and experience haptic feedback you will be amazed how good it is. And pulse 3d audio is fantastic. Graphics are crazy. Console is super fast and quiet. Oh yes since i believe you will soon get it i have advice, if you have space put it vertically. It is much better then horizontally.

Spider-Man 2 will likely not come out in 2021, but even if it does, the city and assets are pretty much built already, and further improvements can be made upon them with more knowledge of next gen performance limits. It's different to spending 7 years making a huge ambitious game from the ground up than to make a game in the same City 3 times. Not that I'm saying that's a bad thing, just that it's a good time saver for them. Think of it like this, Square Enix takes years to release new Final Fantasy titles to the point it's getting silly, and it took years for FF7 Remake Part 1 to launch, but now that those assets are out and the groundwork has been built, they can just improve upon this and release part 2 in a much shorter time, even if they have to go and improve it to align with next gen expectations.

Thanks for this! I was concerned with this game that I might get motion sickness during the swinging, as I do suffer from this type of thing and had experienced it when playing at 30fps. Much to my surprise, I seem unaffected once the FPS gets to 60, so now these games have 60fps with RT it would be a real shame not to dive in. There goes another £70! Thanks? I can only echo how impressive Insomniac have been, bringing us these updates in such a short time, and with the obvious high quality bar they have set themselves. In a week where we see only too well the ramifications of just 'shovelling it out the door' its nice to be able to celebrate a quality developer doing right by its audience.

This and Miles Morales is the reason I got the PS5. On the Pro it was already sick-couldn’t imagine any room for improvement (besides Peter’s old face which I didn’t think fit the OC) But on the PS5, this attention to detail is insane. Like playing a CGI film. No clipping, no texture pop and rich renders and lighting. It’s absurd it’s so good.

This level of RT is perfectly acceptable in my opinion, as most reflective surfaces don't have a mirror finish, meaning reflections will be blurry and noisy any way. Reflections also tend to be mostly unnoticed by players unless they're close-up or the focal point, so a blurry reflection with a low culling distance is acceptably immersive

I’m playing this game on my 4K projector (120 inch) and can’t believe how good it looks and plays in the new 60fps RT mode. I agree that RT is a big win for the image quality. Yes, the 4K RT mode looks a bit sharper but the way the game plays and looks (because of the higher motion resolution with 60fps) more than makes up for it. Awesome job insomniac!

Something that the naked eye literally can't see unless on video, pausing and rewinding, to specifically scrutinize something they saw on an analytic while playing the game OR pop in/artifacts that are blatantly obvious even to a half blind person without glasses. Fps drop each "cut" during cutscenes are by design to make sure all rendered object will display properly. It's essentially a built in quality check. The team decided 1-2 fps wasn't noticable as there is a proper blend technique between the dupe frames as well. Only tools will show you the fps drop generally your eye will never see it. Rt mode has a 2fps drop on average Perf mode has a 1 fps drop on average The game will delay additional fps if it needs the time to do a porper cut. Overheat a ps5 as well as a full ssd and it'll drop to 3-4fps between cuts.

As long we keep the console clean, ps5 in normal condition will not overheat that much.... i must have around 200 hours already on her, last staturday it was on 13 hours straigth playing between me and my wife(quarentine dont ask)... i had 0 problems and the console was barelly warm, you cant even notive that she is on until the disk spin.

14:30 The only dip in FPS I felt in the Fidelity mode throughout my playthrough of both games was in the Science Lab scene in Morales with Phin. You can look up at the start of the mission and see sharks swim overhead and although I don't have the tools to test the actual FPS drop, it felt like it was around 15... Other than that I almost never felt a drop in performance (in 4K30 mode)

The level of performance Insomniac has done with Spider-Man was just outright remarkable. Pixels are overrated, I'd take 1080p 60 fps with all the bells and whistles over 4K 30 fps and all of the same. Good on Imsomniac to give players the choice though, hopefully we see more of it in the future.

Resolution make big difference. Anything less than 1440p is too low these days Open world games do benefit a lot of high resolution cause it make distance objects look more clear

I bought the ps4 disc game in Canada for $10 form a used bargain bin then Sony charged me $15 for the PS5 update. The Ps5 digital version is $68 from PS Store so I still came ahead .
