And this was the day that the comic pop crew lost all innocence. Gone were the days of joy and childish wonder as they read about that most horrifying of concepts, spider-man's radioactive "webbing". Perhaps some day a ghost of their former selves may return to bring back the happiness and fun that comes from comics. Until that day, we mourn the loss in silence.

Personally, I would like to see them do a Daredevil Dark Knight Returns kind of story. I've given it some thought myself as to a loose outline of a plot. My idea was that Matt Murdock does eventually go away only for a couple of years to go to Japan to more fully train and when he comes back there is a new Kingpin of Crime who is this huge mutant who is basically built like Doomsday. Due to Matt having his secret identity out in the public for so long it's a fact that he can't maintain both sides of his life forever and so either he needs to stop being Matt Murdock or stop being Daredevil (this taking place before this story). He stops the regular side of his life because he can't stop himself from being Daredevil and becomes a far more reclusive figure, similar to how in the early years of Batman people see him as an urban legend. By the way, Matt is about in his 60's in the story so he isn't quite as strong and he can't rely on his natural talent in acrobatics and has to fight smarter (which is the reason that he left to go to Japan to better train himself). He has gotten to the point where he has trained his heightened senses to work better than they currently do. For example, where Matt currently is very vulnerable to extreme sound at the moment, in the story he can block out sounds and instead rely on his other senses like smell and touch to act as well as his radar. The bulk of the story would be Matt returning to Hell's Kitchen to take down this new Kingpin who is far physically superior to him. Along the way we would see how the Marvel Universe has changed in those years. For example, Peter Parker (topical for this video) is no longer Spider-Man, is married to Mary Jane, has Parker Industries and has a daughter called May. The reason for Spider-Man's retirement is that his main motivation is responsibility and so I thought that he would only stop being Spider-Man if it had become irresponsible for him to do so. Basically, it's that Pete got too old and slowed down too much to the point where he was no longer helping when he got involved. May Parker was born after he retired (they could have adopted as I think they'd have to be pretty old). Also, with Peter deciding that he was too old and slow to keep being a hero it's a mirror of Matt, himself, having become a lot older and having to fight a lot differently and whether he should give up. Foggy died a long time ago which was the main instigator of Matt choosing to give up his life as Matt Murdock. Wilson Fisk died of a heart attack brought on by being pretty old eventually and being the weight that he is. Matt would spend the story taking down this new Kingpin's empire until they eventually face off with Matt fighting a lot smarter, laying traps etc. There's a lot I can't be bothered to type but it was an idea I had and may write. Who knows? Also, I liked the episode as always

I once thought of a story which was basically Spider-Man's "Renew Your Vows" but for Batman. Bruce is still Batman and Selina is still Catwoman, but now they're parents of a daughter called Martha (figures) who is about seven/eight and still doesn't know who they really are (so yeah, she isn't the new Robin, or anything like that). The idea would be to explore how they could keep their routines while caring for a child, and to see how their clashing perspectives of morality and justice would affect their personal life now that said child's added to the mix (since, despite Catwoman now being a superhero through and through, certain aspects of her old self clinge to her like a terribly addictive habit).
@Herosmurf2 жыл бұрын
@Benny Fair fax Oh my god, I completely forgot that I ever posted this but as someone else just replied to this comment years later, I've seen that there were a few replies. I don't really have news on this particular idea but I will be finishing my PhD this year and am hoping to have more time and energy to spend pursuing writing as a hobby that could grow into something when I'm done. Maybe that will go somewhere and if I were to do something like this idea, I'd probably make it a little less grimdark than what I had in my head at the time. I do still really remember this, though, so maybe there's something in the idea worth holding onto. My title for it at the time was always going to be something like "The Old Man Without Fear" to go with Marvel's titles like "Old Man Logan" etc. But yeah, no real updates on writing other than I'm aiming to finish a novel I've been holding off on while I've been doing my doctorate in the next year or so.

I still like this book for the most part. Some of the story is legitamately lost in the ridicuously edgy and depressing fucked up stuff they force in at some points, like spidermans gamma splooge etc. But I think it still had some awesome and clever bits to it. The image of Doc Ocks arms ominously walking about against the sky, Peter going through his old rogues gallery bruce lee style floor by floor, him shouting the last line of the 60s cartoon theme as he punches through the coffin in his old suit, him and kraven snorting illusion/fear gas, (theyre interchangeable to me), and just fucking charging at each other, Sandman having an emotional scene with his little cement girl, the amazing scenes between him and mary jane both in flashback and crazy ghost format, etc. Theres some really kickass stuff in here. You just gotta dig through some grey to get to it.

Also, I don’t get doctor oct though, he’s dead but alive by the arms?
@EggPlanet4925 жыл бұрын
I know this is an old comment but essentially, Otto is dead, but still attached to the arms, which just carry around his body. Sometime before he died, Otto programmed the arms to seek out Peter/Spider-Man, and recorded a message to play back once they'd found the guy. So the arms are basically acting on their last coded instructions, along with whatever rudementary AI that's built into them.
