Why do folks mock this guy? His movies are fun,fast moving and showcase his akido skills to the max.I can't get enough of these movies,sure he gained some wieght,but who dosen't?
@GGuideGyn9 ай бұрын
Right? Why don't people mock a certain rapist and ear biting boxer is behind me. Aparently in our society being a rapist is better than being fat.
@markricci13618 ай бұрын
Many reasons, but for me, the issue is that his aikido decreased markedly after Under Siege and while there is still a decent amount in Fire Down Below, the more Seagal switched over to kicking and punching rather than grabbing and throwing, the less interesting his movies became. Go back and rewatch the fight in the grocery store in Above the Law. Textbook destruction.
@johndemesa51967 ай бұрын
The reason people mock this guy is because he's an asshole, a douchebag, and delusional. He picks fights with Jean Van Damme and hates him for no reason other than being jealous because Van Damme has records of him fighting in martial arts while he doesn't. Stallone even said that in a party where he invited Seagal and Van Damme. Seagal still kept insulting Van Damme even when they're at the party. And when Van Damme couldn't take the insults anymore he picked a fight with Seagal and Seagal ran. But Seagal said that's not what happened, he said it was Van Damme who ran not Seagal. Even though Stallone and other eye witnesses during the party said that Seagal ran. He also said some delusional things like fighting the Yakuza, Training the CIA, Defending a dojo, Neutralizing a bomb, etc. All of these are even debunked and not completely true. He's a jerk to stuntmen and hurts them. There's numerous controversial allegations against him like Sexual assault and when he's confronted about it, he dismisses it. I'm serious, when someone asks him about these allegations he takes off the mic, stands up and left. He didn't even answer the question. Here's even the best part. When Gene LeBell fought Seagal in a sparring, I guess, Gene LeBell put Seagal in a chokehold and Seagal shits himself. And when Seagal was questioned about this, he dismissed it too. So overall, he's an asshole, a fraud, and a jerk.
@tomr96616 ай бұрын
Because almost 40% of the movie going public are woman. They want to see romance in the movie with the typical guy chasing a girl, then he's made to look stupid and rejected etc. then maybe there's a happy ending with the girl in control. it's a proven formular and works for the industry. Seagal's 's movie don't work like that, they're basically all action, with maybe a girl for the scenery.
@markcaldwell28316 ай бұрын
Exactly. Everyone has to take a poke at someone. His newer movies are not as good as his older gems, but still shows just how brilliant he is. Most people have jealousy issues.

The problem is Seagall hasn't aged well and nearly every film he's been in over the past 24 years has been pretty cheesy and the obvious stunt doubles have taken away his relevance. They either simply forgot or never knew what a master in Aikido he was/is and how good his films were from 1987 'til the end of the '90s!

Why would you seemingly admire a person that is arrogant (without reason), rapes and assaults women on a regular basis, is completely delusional, a pathologic liar (proven countless times), a child molester (Ask Catherine Heigl), a bully and completely without any redeeming qualities of any kind? Gentle? Please, please look up the word Gentle in a dictionary, because he is ANYTHING but gentle as he regularly assaults others that don't agree with him or question his self-imposed authority. And also, good technique & honor beyond belief by this innocent bystander, who tells the Sheriff "the truth", about how Steven was jumped & assaulted in this scene, providing eye witness testimony to the truth. So, we are all doing good to always tell "the truth" in tough situations, to make sure that the Police don't get fooled and know the truth, by providing truthful eye-witness testimony to the Police. @@Ease54 LOL I used to work close to their sets at times, and that probably applied to more than you might think. Even some of the crew members were "hott"!

Steven gets jumped by 10 guys. Corrupt cop: You're under arrest for assaulting the 10 man gang that tried to kill you.

Seagal gets a lot of hate, but I must admit I enjoyed his movies, all pre 2000's.

I would have loved to have seen a death match between Steven Seagal and Chuck Norris. Two invincible undefeated legends. How could either one of them win? They are both superhuman and almost Godlike. This would at least be the greatest staring match of all time. Who would blink first? And the dialogue between these two would be riveting! Why did this never happen?
