Those clouds are called Cloud streets: long rows of cumulus clouds that are oriented parallel to the direction of the wind. They are formed by convection rolls of rising warm air and sinking cool air. Rising warm air cools gradually as it ascends into the atmosphere. When moisture in the warm air mass cools and condenses, it forms clouds. Meanwhile, sinking cool air on either side of the cloud formation zone creates a cloud-free area. Later, when several of these alternating rising and sinking air masses align with the wind, cloud streets develop 1. Typically, cloud streets form fairly straight lines over large, flat areas such as the ocean. However, when geological features like islands disrupt the flow of the wind, this disruption can create spiral patterns in the cloud streets 2.

Beautiful sunrise! Those stripes are called Crepuscular rays which are sunbeams that originate when the Sun is just above or below a layer of clouds, during the sunrise and sunset period.

Those stripes on the clouds seem to be shadows. Clouds can and do cast shadows on other clouds and I think that is happening here thanks to the angle the light is fallong on those clouds.

They could all use a full shampoo, grooming ..the works! However, money does not grow on the Horjus trees....and it is a bit too cool at this time of year, anyway! Risy needs a blanket! The roof needs attention! Vet bills need paying... and all horses need eat!!. How many things can one look around to realise this or that is needed? But it is less than one year, since the mares arrived at Stal Horjus.... So, one step at a time! Lisa

So sorry for your loss , and your family too. I know as we get older it seems as though funerals become a part of a family’s life. On my father’s side I had 5 aunts and 4 uncles and I can remember when the last of aunts/uncles died. I was in my 60’s but I felt almost orphaned.
