A side by side comparison of the vintage Omega Cal 1045 ( Lemania 5100) & the 'modern' ETA C01.211 found in many Tissot chronograph watches.
The similarities and differences.
Having just done the clip showing the oil soaked movement & chrono operation I thought it would be interesting to show the similarities & differences between the Lemania 5100 & the modern ETA C01.211 used in Tissots entry level chronographs.

Intresting info again. I realize more and more, that Im a sucker for blingier movements. 😁 Have never (yet) regulated a etachron balance. Have to look in to how its done properly. Maby a video sugestion?

Well....... I could but i'd likely give some ETA watchmakers palpitations as I tend to refuse to buy specialist tools for one off jobs and only ever do when there's no other viable option. The Etachron system is very misunderstood, I used to hate them until I discovered how they work and how you adjust them. I use tweezers to tune them but of course the risk of slippage is high compared to the 'official adjusting driver'. I will have to try and throw something together showing it as it's really simple once you see it. Like me, most would slap their heads and go, well that's so obvious' lol Blingy movements are nice! but this one has really surprised me performance wise.

hey sorry for asking before watch the video, but can you replace the 5100 and put one ETA c01 movement in the same case? or what alternative movement could you fit in a 5100 case? because i have a chrono case for lemania 5100 but Its hard to find a lemania movement. any suggestion is welcome

Can the Tissot movement be swapped out for an ETA7750 28,800 with the calendar wheel swapped out?

Are some parts interchangeable?
@spidiq8
@spidiq8 2 жыл бұрын
Theoretically they should be. Realistically they're probably not as the 5100 is a 28,800vph movement and the C01.211 a 21,600vph

@@spidiq8 thank you for the info!! i have two speedmaster with 1045 caliber. there are many detractors of this movement for the use of plastic. I'm worried that those parts will fail, especially the platen on top of the chronograph or the plastic wheel and I won't find replacements. That's why I would like to know if those plastic parts are interchangeable. Thanks in advance

@@statusbohemio Hmm, now the clear plate theoretically could be. However, the problem is, you can still get a decent range of spares for the 1045/5100 but try and find anything for the C01.211. That's why I have one in my parts drawer with a broken chrono runner, I cannot find parts for them anywhere and of course being ETA they're restricted. The clear cover, as long as you don't solvent clean it, I believe should be OK for many years, the delrin of the other parts is solvent safe and you can put that through the cleaning machine. I have a suspicion there are detractors because the movement looks 'cheap' for want of a better word, it's reminiscent of the EB8800 and other pin pallets but I can say having stripped this one and checked a few bits, it's so good i've just bought myself a watch with a 5100 in and i've turned a few down in the past for being too expensive for a cheap looking movement, if only I'd known then. These movements were in fact very clever and forward thinking technologically.

@@spidiq8 thanks again! nice to hear that. Well this movement would never win a beauty contest but as long as it is reliable there is no problem with that. when i bought mine i didn't know what was inside just i really loved the dial layout with the day/date, the central minute counter and 24 hour indicator. So ill keep mine and take good care of it because it is a very collectible piece.
