seeing these two at Sidmouth a few years ago was one of the best live gigs ever - my partner who has seen the likes of The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd and others live - said it was the best gig he'd been to - high praise indeed!!!!!

That's why you use a proper, elevated stage. The bass beats from the foot stamping really come through!

Reminds me how good they are and how much we have all missed live music during this pandemic, not sure I am confident enough to make the 2021 live tour though..

you can also hear Jon Boden's stomp box, especially prominent on Haul Away; he was the first person to use one when performing traditional music - sounds great!
@ozwzrd6 жыл бұрын
Both sides of the box are miked, thus the presence of the LH/bass in the mix.

@@honeychurchgipsy6 I know this is 6 years late, but in the interest of accuracy I must point out -- Quebecois (traditional Quebec, Canadian) fiddlers have sometimes use "stomp boxes" throughout the early 1900's and maybe earlier. These "boxes" (thin, flat wooden resonating & amplifying 'platforms') have also been used in the early 1900's and maybe earlier by Appalachian 'folk' musicians [I've seen and heard them]. Jon Boden's is well made and well mic'd so it's not as subtle as those heard in earlier 'folk recordings'.
