I use Susan Bates for wearables as it’s easier to get uniform size stitches. I use the Tulip Etimo for amigurumi mostly because it’s easier to make smaller stitches. I also have very small hands so using the Etimo is very comfortable for me 😊

I bought 2 of the tulip hooks, glad I didn’t waste $100+ on the whole set. Love my clover amours.

I have both sets… the gray Tulips and the Amours. Love them both. I like that the surface texture of the hooks is different. The tulips are super smooth while the clovers are more of a brushed metal. They work great for different types of yarn and different types of stitches.

Very informative video, thanks for the review. As a beginner I didn’t know crochet was so complicated…I thought yarn was just yarn until I made a scarf and it was so itchy🤣. I’m finally paying attention to fibers, count and hook sizes. As a beginner I really appreciate this video, I learned things I didn’t know. Thanks for sharing🤗

Before I even watch I’m going to say the tulip hook is way way better. I bought the same generic hooks and compared them to my tulip just due to the price of the generic. I found that they weren’t slick and the hung in even my softest yarn. But they only cost a few dollars so now I know to avoid those generic ones. I messed up and bought a Furls odyssey and I love it so much more than I thought I would. I had gotten a furls streamline and I didn’t really care for it so I didn’t have high hopes for the odyssey. I was wrong as wrong can be. I plan to order one every time I have a little extra money until I have a full set 🫣. It may take 6 months or a year but that’s my goal. Sorry for writing a book here lol. Great review. Thank you!

@@SpiffyHandmade I’m the same!! I have about 6 different brands of hooks. Maybe more if I truly counted. The clover amore use to be my go to before the Devil named Furls entered my life😂

I could not get on with the tulip, I think it depends on how you hold your hook, I hold mine like a pen, so the tulip was all over the place. I gave them away and bought all Clover, which suit me very well!

@@jeanettekruger9007 oh I agree about the way you hold the hook. I have the knife hold (I think that’s what it’s called). I’ve tried to do the pen grip but I feel like I have to make such big movements to make a stitch lol. I’m sure the style of hook makes a difference too.

I have arthritis in my hands. I change hooks and try not to use the same one all the time. I love my tulips, I also use Susan Bates comfort grips and I have a set of Clovers. If my hands weren’t a problem I would use just the tulips mostly. Thank you for the review.

I bought one tulip and compared it to my clover, nothing seems to beat that clover for me.

Appreciate your analysis. I try not to buy stuff from China. People create great products like Tulip and then the Chinese steal the look and idea, create cheap knock-offs, and Amazon promote those people. I don't like that.

So my question is: Hand fatigue. Do these hooks give you hand fatigue? I need a good set of Aluminum hooks and the Clovers are enticing but the small handles vex my hands. Thank you for the review, I have seen these and wanted to see if they are good 🥰🧶🙏🏽 I am a Furls / Susan Bates girl. I learned on Susan Bates when I was 6. I can use a Boye hook but I slip out of stitches.

Hello! Thank you so much for the question. I would have to use these hooks longer to know if they actually make my hands tired. The problem I was having with crocheting with them in the video was that I was having to think so hard about not losing the loops on the hook or splitting the yarn while crocheting. I don’t think the handle is the problem for me I don’t think I would have fatigue from using them as long as the head of the hook was less like boye.

Commenting again with update! Used the 5.5 mm for an extended amount of time and I did not have hand fatigue at all. My One and Only issue is that the stitches slip out too much. Great hook set though!
